I've seen mine next to one here locally, they're actually is quite a difference between the 2, makes me wish Mazda would have brought it back and used it instead of the Lightning, but oh well.

 

CYM is nowhere near what our yellow is.

When they did the powercoat of your calipers did they sand down and smooth the metal surface or just clean and paint?

Sorry, just saw your question.

I'm guessing they sanded down and smoothed it.
When they were painted, they were very rough and uneven.
Now, with the powdercoating, they are smooth.
So, they either sand them down, or put tons of powdercoat on them.

BTW - I can wipe them clean with a dry cloth after not touching them for over a month.

Just updating my pics.
Haven't posted a picture of my car w/ the new springs.
I choose the Tein S-tech because the front had a greater drop than the rear.
My car was always a little lower in the back because of the subs and amp.
The Tein springs evened out the front/rear a little better.

The ride still feels the same. Not really any harder even though the springs are more stiff than stock.

S-tech's look good so far, we'll have to check them out in a few weeks to see if they've settled in a bit more. Any plans for an exhaust?

 

They do not sand the calipers.

Powder coating will hold in heat. Not good.

I think he meant that the powdercoating will hold in the heat generated by braking, and that wouldn't be a good thing because it would lead to brake fade...

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with the statement though, as I don't know much about powdercoating or its heat dissipating abilities...

 

I'm sure the springs are as settled as they'll get. I've had them on for over a month now. The picture was taken today at work.
Working on getting the RB exhaust before the next meet.

I'm pretty sure that powdercoating restricts the caliper from cooling down as fast as it could without powdercoating.
I mean, afterall, you are adding a fairly thick coat of material onto the caliper. It definitely won't help the heat.
However, it won't be an issue in daily driving or autocross for that matter.
Razz1 likes to do road courses, and hot brakes would be a big issue in that application.

BTW - The calipers are as smooth as glass, so like I mentioned above, either they sanded them, or they put a ton of powdercoating on them.
When I painted them early on, I had 10+ coats of paint, and they were never smooth.
I don't know that they're sanded for sure, but I do know that they are smoooooothh.
