No jokes allowed about which ones faster...

Finally got some nice sun to take pics of my 1:10 Mazdaspeed and my 1:1 toy. Added strakes recently, so I figured I had to whittle and paint some mini ones for the RC car. If you missed close-ups of the RC body, check em out at https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...threadid=23415

In 0-60, depending on the motor, the toy will definitely be faster, but then again, the toy will be doing 600 scale MPH. Top speed wise, the car will outrun the toy even if you could keep up with it at the range you'd need to make top speed unless you had a huge oval.

I believe the RC speed record is still 121 miles per hour or so that was set by running a car w/21 cells around an oval.

Yeah, last I heard was 121 with something like a 2 turn brushless motor andI thought 24 cells for some reason. 0-60 Would probably be pretty close actually, depending on the car and surface. A 4WD touring car on a carpet track (or decent pavement) takes off like a rocket, but tougher to reach 60MPH. I got up to around 55 in a 2WD pan car in a big smooth parking lot, but with so much power I had to take it up to speed gently to keep from breaking the rear end loose. Oh, and don't let anyone serious about the hobby hear you call it a toy - they're bound to get steamed. For me, the big one is the toy :D

Apparently this is a speed run in Japan that they say was 147 km/h which equals 91 mph. Still looking for vids of faster runs. http://www.hpiracing.co.jp/contents/.../image/147.mov

About 22 bucks plus shipping. And you don't have to install it piece by piece

You know the R/C car gets better mileage. Thats sweet. I've got the Jada RX8 its alot of fun. I will have to move up to the faster one. Nice job.

That is too cute, parked next to your '8 like that. But all I could think of was some yahoo pulling in and splattering your RC car! (shudder)

Whenever I see a full-scale version of a car next to an identically-clad R/C version, I can't help but think of that scene in "Ocean's Eleven" with Caan and Afleck.

That's awesome... nice work. Do you have any closeups of the mini-strakes?
