Night out In Houston

Me and my friends decided to take a friday night stroll around Houston with ours cars. Caught a few runs we did with a digi cam. Might seem interesting.

Me vs my friends SRT-4
Even though I knew i was gonna lose i tried my luck.

My Rx-8 vs WRX
Pretty even match but he braked a bit during the end...

Rest of the vids are here but they are a bit short

After a night of games and high revs i called it a night.. hope they seem interesting

I live in Toronto, which is more than twice as big as Houston and if you go out at 230 in the morning the streets are nearly deserted. Not criticizing you, just offering an opinion to keep everyone safe, we all like to drive fast.

Toronto twice as big as Houston? Don't think so--in the city limits Toronto has about 2.5 million people and 5.1 million people in the metro area--Houston has just over 2 million and 5.1 million people in the metro area. By area--Toronto is only 630 sq. KM or 243 square miles while Houston has 1398 sq. km (540 sq. Mi.) So Toronto is more densely populate but lacks Houstons sprawl.
Sidenote--street racing is bad

I wasn't really speaking to the land area of the cities, but more densely populated would lead to more densely populated roads, either way my point is proven.

It's also way colder, thus even more dense up North.

Please keep it on the track!

Nice vids!! Be careful, Houston PD are really strict these days on street racing. A few years ago I used to head down to the Richmond/Westhiemer area to cruise. A few accidents later the Police became ****'s!! They will throw the book at yoy these days for racing.

Also, Houston is a MASSIVE city!! I live in Dallas now! To get from North Houston to the South side take literally over an hour...and that's on the freeway!! I would love to visit Toronto. I'm goona try and make it up to Canada this year for the F1 GP.

Toronto is not nearly as large as Houston by land area though--Traffic here is pretty bad; but logic would dictate that Toronto should have more traffic due to the population density *if all variables were controlled and remained static such as location/nightly events/weather. Houston doesn't have a fully functional mass transit yet so traffic relief is at least 20 years away. Luckily I stay close to downtown and can get everywhere I need to get easily.

Rx8 looks like a ferrari next to those other 2. Shame it doesn't have 300 HP stock so that it can be a racing machine on track and off. Is there an actual city called Arlen in texas? just curious

Not sure! I think the "King of the Hill" city Arlen is based off a city in North Texas called Garland. Which is fairly cose to where I live.

Turbo's have more applications than for just straight line racing or street racing.

I have to say it... WHY IS EVERYONE SO AGAINST RACING? Some people just want to have fun, why can't everyone just let it be instead of making remarks?

Nobody is against racing. I love racing, love watching it and doing it. You know what I didn't love though, when a kid in my highschool drove into a bridge support and died. How did he hit that pole, he was street racing. That outcome has happened many many many times. Public roads are simply to uncontrolled to safely race on them. Go to a track, its so easy, and a lot more fun. Plus, I dont like being on the road and having two cars blast past me at 2-3 times the speed limit because they just want to have fun. I don't want some young kid who has no driving credentails killing me cause he and his freinds wanted to have fun. You know what I think is fun, not being killed by people who think they are better drivers than they are. Take it to the track, its that simple.

No one is against racing. What this forum is against is illegal street racing. There isn't any form of street racing that is legal so we don't have a racing section devoted to it. Once a moderator sees these videos, they will be removed.

I live in Houston. Logic would dictate that if the streets are busy on a Friday night and you insist on street racing, maybe you shouldn't do it on a Friday and should wait! That would make too much sense from a safety standpoint. How about Tuesdays?

Here the cops can be dicks about racing. It's because of people that race in traffic and cause wrecks that they are this way. My friend was caught twice. He got lucky both times and only had several hundred dollar tickets and court appearances. The judge said that if he gets caught a 3rd time, he loses his license for a year. He's a real estate agent. That would be bad.

Now saying all of the above, I too sometimes feel the urge to race someone else. I never race in traffic, never against more than 1 other car (and only if I know the person), and never anywhere near the city on a freeway. Find a dark empty back road out in BFE and do it there if you must. Rankin and Westheimer are the single worst places to go so don't do it there. It's also where the ricers hang out. I haven't met, seen, or even heard of a single ricer that has a single inch of driving ability or talent so I avoid them. They only race in straight lines because they aren't talented enough to turn properly. My version or "fun" is seeing ricers race, drive bad and wreck. The fun ends when it hurts an innocent bystander who had nothing to do with it. What was so "fun" about it then?

Does it sound like I get pissed off at the typical street racer?

Have you ever come out of a corner at the track and wished your car would acclerate faster down the straight before you got to the next corner?

Have you ever just wished your car had a little more power?

Power isn't about how fast you can go in a straight line. If this were true then every car out there would have just enough power to get up to the speed limit and that's it.
