New Yokohama S.Drive's
Check 'em out! 225/45/R18, stock rims. They weigh 24lbs each and get awesome grip in dry and wet.
I can't wait to see what they look like after being washed and coated with Tire Shine!!
That and I want to wait 100mi as a break-in period before I start flying in and out of turns.

I am getting close to replacing my set of S Drives. Their grip wasn't spectacular for heavy use such as Autocross, but they WERE far better than original stock tires. The one thing I loved about them though, is their wet grip was outstanding. I mean, seriously incredible wet grip.
I hydroplaned for the first time a few days ago, being down to probably 4/32nds, after 18 months with this tire, and often going faster in the rain that I probably should be. Always a stable solid grip in the rain, often felt similar to dry grip. I definately recommend them for anyone for whom wet grip is a concern.

I won't be doing AutoX. But I will try and hit at least 2 road courses before Winter.
Also, these are one of the lighter tires with Y rating, and excellent grip wet and dry. Or so thats what the reviews say.

Can I ask how much they cost? Stock rims correct? That's what I'm looking for a better tire, that will be used for occasional AutoXing, AND will fit the stock rims. Perhaps these will do.

It's almost suicide to post a pic of your 8 when it isn't dropped!
Hey man...keep us updated on the S.Drives. We have a Yoko factory around here and my friend gets ridiculous discounts. I was thinking about Yoko for my next set.

I have ~28,000 miles on mine, I am probably going to go for exact replacement. Sure there are tires with better dry grip, but I don't think you will find tires with better wet grip without sacrificing either speed rating or massive dry grip.
And it may just be me, but I don't find massive dry grip comfortable when I have to limp around in the wet.

Yeap. We had 1in-2in of rain last saturday. I didn't loose traction, and I drive aggressively as is. I also had TSC fully disabled. I actually launched it with no spin.
Now I didn't take turns to quick because of my intake and there was lots of debris in the road.
But I feel that the S.Drive's wet traction is pretty darn close to their dry traction.
