New vids!

this link should take you to thew page. the first is a long commercial/ short film. the second is some film shot at laguna seca with some shots of the rx-8 running with the lemans car, and also some of the black car in the snow testing. the third is from the la show and is of the unveiling of the x car and some extra footage of that car.

edit: ok that first link doesn't work. go here then shift the stick to gallery and go to movie gallery.

Thank god that is a japanese commercial! It would be laughed off the planet in the states. Really cheesy, and poorly edited. I do have to give them thier props for discarding the Zoom Zoom song.

Hey, I liked that commercial. That kid was holding the original SA22C RX-7 in his hand. He always wanted a Mazda rotary, and now he has one. It's beautiful! (sob)

Ok, so it's a bit cheezy, but there were a lot of good bits that I hope make it into the North American commercials.

Can someone capture them in MPEG format so it can be saved in full to our drives?

Your calls are answered..

I originally thought that it was just me that hated the "streaming only" type links... partly because on any platform other than windows it says I need a plugin they don't provide and I have to hack the web page source to get the file...

Anyway, since we're growing now, and my bandwidth isn't... if anyone cares to mirror these I'd appreciate it.

Thank you BlueAdept! I fail to see how forced streaming video is ever a good idea... I have hated it since I first had to deal with it.

Would you mind doing some of us a huge favor and making the 7 VS 8 videos available for downloading? They're here: http://www.rx8forum.com/showthread.p...0&pagenumber=1

Been wanting to see that since I heard about it back in September (I think).

I liked the video. Kind of cheesy--but I still liked it. The piano first half was nice, gives nostalgia to those of us who love and cherish the rotary or RX-7. Also reminded me of the intro to the Japanese version of Gran Turismo 2. Second half was okay, but I think the whole mood of the song was unbefitting the "soul" of the rotary. And the phrasing of the lyrics sounded like the akward literal (fill in the language)-to-english translations you hear on poorly dubbed anime or video game soundtracks, or even worse, "English" versions of J-Pop songs. I have, however, found myself, on more than one occasion, humming the darn melody to myself for hours on end...

I also gave a quick driver's salute to the screen when they gave that brief nod to the FD3S RX-7. (^_^)

I do agree that something like this would never fly in the US... The US, of course, would have to use a REALLY stupid song: one that's played out on the radio, a novelty song, one that would be a bland representative of your typical American over-marketed-genre, like "radio trance" or "college rock". (^~^)

...my wish comes true...it's the greatest love...

Whoops! There I go again...

I can't get the melody out of my head either. Maybe it's because i've watched the video over a hundred times?:p

Does anyone know what the song's real (Japanese?) name is?

Cool

Nice presentation. I just thought it was odd that he was driving on the left side of the car even though it was obviously for the Japanese market.

All the links are up, although the site is pretty busy with people downloading the autocar article.... I've limited the number of concurrent connections otherwise I can't use my internet connection... so you might be falling foul of that (it should warn you)...

If u look at first vid (japanese commerical) and when he turns on car and drives it fast, on speedo it says 167. Is that MPH or KPM. It looks cool.

I'm quite certain sure it is in kpm--which would equate to roughly 100 mph.

Video Translation

My brother used to live in Japan and speaks fluent Japanese. He translated the writing in the video for me last night. He currently works as a parts importer for Izusu. The translation is just as cheesy as the music. There were a few words he wanted double check with someone, then he will give me the complete translation.

Basically it says "When I was a boy, I dreamed I would BE a sports car." (Not own one, not drive one, but BE one!).

After watching the video, he says he wants to work for Maz(u)da now!
