New member, here's the car

Hello RX-8club.com, here's my new ride. I have pending a new name, Roxy is too common. 2005 GT 6mt, 109,000miles. Driven it 2400 miles since acquiring it, averaging 21.97mpg (thanks to an Excel document log lol). Original engine last 102,xxx miles (I have paperwork to prove it), to give anyone a good idea of how long the Renesis can last if maintained. Replaced my Mazda 3 hatchback, and old Corsica lol

Here's to prove that the RX-8 holds two full-size golf bags, including the spare tire:

Congrats! Was the original engine replaced under mazda warranty?

Roxy is quite a popular name (from what I've seen). I guess mine will have to go have a name change soon...

Yes under warranty... the dealership it was replaced at was great to the previous owner, they split the cost halfway on the new engine because it was just 2000 miles past warranty. I'm a little wary of these reman. engines after researching them for a while but it runs great, gets great mileage

Thanks, I have a question for anyone:

My seats are not the typical 2004-2005 leather with "ribbed" vinyl inserts on the sides and bottom patch, would that mean I have a later build for 2005, closer to the 2006 model?

Are you sure you have an 05? Or, was the car purchased in 05? Because, you also have the clear window washer container, that was available for 06+ models, as well as some other things...

From a Mazda 3 to an rx8...that is an upgrade. Anyway, welcome to the club and enjoy the ride. Any plans with it?

I'm in Southeast Michigan, near Plymouth and Livonia. Yes it's an 05, I'm going to check the door sticker tomorrow for the build month and stuff... I thought they switched to a clear washer fluid tank in 2005? Either way, I've never seen an '05 with my seats...

Honestly the biggest upgrade was from the Chevy Corsica I have been driving while the Mazda 3 was being repaired... 2004 SVT Focus was before those even, and a 1990 Chevy K1500. I miss having cargo space

No plans right now just paying bills lol future I want to have Koni shocks +Tein springs, Borla catback, Rota g-force (I believe) wheels, clear corners. I have already put my Escort 8500x50 in with a Blendmount and Stealthcord (or w/e it's called, taps power from the mirror).

Just filled up and got 21.66mpg, wondering if I should replace my coils though, no record of them being replaced in writing, seems to idle a little lower than 800rpm sometimes. Has new plugs and a bunch of other engine items

My 2005 has a clear washer bottle.

As for the seats, some pics would help.

They removed the "ribbled" seats with the 06+ models.
The back of the seats should be leather as well instead of the titanium color plastic.

Does your car come with a credit card style key fob or is it a flip key/standard keyless entry fob?

'06 Grand Touring models come with the credit card style keyless entry.

Also there would be chrome accenting on the ac vents. I believe yours is an 05 with swapped seats, especially since they're red/black seats but your steering wheel is all black.

LifeAfterRx8, that is my suspicion too, expecially because the door cards are black too, just not sure, because the rear seats match the fronts too

I'm absolutely positive it's a 2005 model. Switchblade key, trim rings around the vents are silver/frosted

I'm in Sterling Heights and work in Troy, so not too far from you. I just replaced my coils on mine (04 with 57k on it) I monitor mine using the torque app for android, and at least on my car the rpms at idle float in the 800 range, when they dip below that i get a little vibration. I'm swapping out my wires and plugs tonight, I'll let you know if it makes any difference in the rpm at idle.

Oh your gas mileage is solid! I get just above that on the freeway, but I average more like 16-17 driving through Troy and all the traffic.

Was this a craiglist car, I want to say I saw it listed there.
