Talking My red baby

Here is my Velocity Red 8. Wish list includes strakes, exhaust finishing kit, and an effects kit from Veilside (www.veilside.com) i want the front and rear from the ver.1 and the side flares from the GT kit. I plan to get the fitted red and black cover, but I need to save my pennies for a while. There is absolutely nothing I dislike about this car, I get so many looks I hardly even notice anymore my wife has to tell me who's checking me out.

I'm currently searching the forum trying to find a pic of a red 8 with the clear markers.

I've seen them, but don't know that it's high on my priority list as it does not add much to the overall look and IMO would look too ricerocket-ish.

the problem I've seen with those kits is the gold mica, if it has it at all, doesn't match the body paint. Looks totally add-on. don't know if that applies to veilside or not, but it looks like it in the pic. totally rice!

I'm sure the mica can be matched most of the 8's have flakes in their paint

Nice 8! Looks like the one I have on order.

I don't like the veilside kit though. The front end looks like the "cow catchers" they used to put on locomotives!

Exclamation Veilside aero parts

For those that are interested in the Veilside products please keep in mind that these are unfinished, as in you will need to have them prepped and painted on top of what the cost ends up being. Also, I recommend that you find a dealer or search EBAY as the freight charges etc... will add up quickly otherwise. I still like the parts they produce and have seen many of their kits, but wanted to caution those who are unfamiliar with Veilside's policies. Again I plan to purchase the front end as pictured above, but with other charges it will be later down the road. I will post pics when I do make the upgrade. Hope this helps...Mike

What are the policy's when buying from veilside. I say stay away from EBAY, most body kit sellers on there are out to make a quick sale.

The Version one kit is Urethane, it will need painting. It's usually better to get it painted at a place you can bring your car too, they can get an actual match from your car. Shipping is not included, you should check with Veilside about prices for shipping.

Question

I'd like to know where you got the info that the version 1 kit is urethane. According to all data I've seen and from everything I know about Veilside is that they do not use urethane at all, only fiberglass. They even say on their FAQ page that they do not use it because of weight issues and a tendency for being hard to get a proper paint adherance. Let me know as I am curious if your source is reliable or not.

Thanks guys, I'll be waiting anyway as I have other priorities that are much more affordable than spending $1100 on aero then whatever the cost of prep and painting will be on top of it. Plus right now there are few enough of us who actually own the 8 already that people love the look just as she is! :D

Looks great! Enjoy the ride and the attention. I just had a guy in an Acura TSX at a stoplight honk at me and give me the thumbs up as he pointed at my car......and he did all that while chatting on the phone. To go to the lengths of getting my attention is cool!
I was admiring his black TSX.

Thanks to everyone for the comments. I am thoroughly enjoying every mile I put on my 8! I drove up to Atlanta to pick my son up from the airport and had truckers honking at me and giving me thumbs ups the whole way! If the attention this car gets isn't enough to convince the naysayers then nothing will. There will always be haters that will sling mud, but at the end of the day I'm still looking out into my driveway and thinking to myself, 'da*n that's a sexy ride'. Even if it's not the fastest car on the road it is mine and it is HOT!!

Sorry, don't know him, but my next door neighbor works JSTARS so I'll see if he knows him. Small world! I work in the Combat Communications Unit here. Thanks for the reply and hope to get to ome Atlanta events. If you think of it drop me a line to let me know when they are as I don't have a clue as to how to find out.
