I remember hearing the same thing. What are the limitations on porting the Renesis?

Any numbers on this? Dyno?

Since Kostas is unable to respond (don't know why actually, I'm just guessing), I'll let you in on the small details:

Things done:
- Very generous porting of the Renesis
- Greddy turbo kit

The engine is rather beaten up, in the sense that it was never properly broken-in, and has endured Christ's torments

The car dynoed (at 0,7bar) 299HP and 39Kgm of torque at a DynoPack

The specific video was recorded at Kartodromio, which is a rather small/narrow track, mainly for go-karts. Ideal of course for drifting

Was there a previous dyno before the port, or was the turbo installed at the same time? I'm just curious as to what the actual gains were from the port itself.

Actually there is. We had a dyno-day with the Greek RX8 Club, and we went to a MAHA dyno (so the figures are not directly comparable). Anyway, this specific ported Renesis produced...let me check....246HP and 21,2Kgm.

Compare this to the other 5 stock RX8 Cosmo (6ports) that attended, which dynoed at 210,217,222,224 and 226HP respectively....

Table with results and dyno charts are posted in the Greek RX8 Club forum, so I could give you the link to the thread, but you wouldn't make much out of it.....it will all be Greek to you

What psi is the turbo running? The vid is VERY impressive, but numbers aren't for a port. If its running a low psi with that power then thats pretty nice, but if the psi is like 11-12 on the GReddy, then I don't think the port was that benefitial unless there was some strengthening done at the same time.

That is the word that Kostas (owner and OP) used when he described the work done on this engine....I haven't actually seen the port job, so I will not go under oath.....maybe I'll let Kostas clear things up when he posts again...

Hi Moos, ace said it was dynoed at .7 bar , which google translates to about 10psi. are their Hp measurements the same? so 10psi on greddy + port = 300 rwhp?

I was thinking the same thing after reading the numbers. It sounds like a pretty mild port to me.

Well, since he said that stock rx8's were dynoed at "210,217,222,224 and 226HP" I would say that the 300hp is overrated, unless I missunderstood something.

PS is about 1-2% less than HP I believe.

300PS = 295.89HP

Excuse my ignorance about rotaries, but what exactly is there to port on the renesis?

The exhaust ports have been said to be small in the renesis, so I would assume its the exhaust ports.

Hmmm. Car is gorgeous. I can't watch the vid at work though. I was thinking, however, that since the Greddy does not flow a lot and tends to be a great low RPM kit (where you actually want the smaller ports for higher velocity), how does the higher engine flow effect the intake temps? Are you using the block off plate? Is it holding boost to redline? Soooo many questions.

I don't think he ever specified if hes running the greddy turbo kit or something else.
