my poor poor 8
i just got some photos back from my accident last weekend.. some kid from New Hampshire wasn't watching and plowed into a stopped pickup, driving him right into my trunk. luckily no one was seriously hurt, but the pickup was totalled and my 8 gets to spend two weeks getting unpretzeled. trying not to think about how bad this COULD have been...
anyway, the carnage:
and:
at least the hula girl survived....

Oil Injection
really sorry for you...sucks.
it is nice to see though with the smashed 8's that there can be quite a bit of bent metal at the front or rear and the passenger compartment stays in shape and the door open (or atleast look like they open).
how did the hit feel inside the car?

thanks guys. i was actually really lucky, he missed the frame members by an inch. and i swerved to the right when i stopped so i missed the pickup in front of me, would've been a much bigger mess otherwise.

i can still feel it a week later. but the car is amazingly solid, the passenger compartment is in perfect shape aside from the glass.

Screw gas mileage
Ouch....I dont know why I keep opening these threads...it does look like the 8's will take some punishement and protect the drivers well. Hope I never find out firsthand

so the same thing happened to me...we were stopped and the person behind me wasnt paying attention and plowed into me. somewhere around here there is a thread with pictures of my ex-silver 8. passenger compartment was perfect minus a tiny bit of glass but the back end of the car was destroyed 9the front was dented up too). the car was totalled...blah, stupid driving idiots. on the bright side...i bought a shinka, i just have to get back home to pick it up.

well the truck was blue, but most of that damage was from the tire. damn thing tried to mount my car.
i thought i might throw up too, but i just passed out instead. it was a hard hit.
but i think the weirdest part of the whole thing was looking back and seeing the hula girl silouetted in front of the exploding window.

my passenger and i are fine, unless 2 years from now our necks flip out, but otherwise my only concern is that i might spaz out and run over to that ladies house and total her face (damn it!) ...<sob> i miss my car. i dont get to pick up the new one until i move back to tx in 3 weeks...ahhhhhhhh. everyone that hears about it tells me that girls get into lots of crashes...as if stopping at a red light was poor driving habits.

sorry to hear about the accident...thats rough. i had the same thing happen to me, except there wasn't a car in between... i was at a light and then a car approached pretty fast (about 45 MPH), with a suburban very close behind it. the light had just turned green, & the car behind me switched into the other lane & continued on, leaving the suburban to slam into me before i had started to move or the suburban had started to brake...
anyway, i had fairly major trunk, rear bumper, & exhaust damage, no contact with frame (VERY close, though), & a bad headache. i did manage to get a new RB exhaust out of the deal as well as $200, plus a decent amount of money for neck/back therapy from the impact. it was an unfortunate incident, the 8 was out of commission for a month or so, but it came back renewed with a beautiful exhaust tone (not to mention some lovely 4 inch tips....).
oh yeah, & he is just utilizing the practicality of our car when using those roof racks!
