Ahh, the two periods...always confusing. Did he mean to end the sentence with one, meaning his comment was serious, but his finger slipped OR did he mean to have three, but came up short, meaning his post was sarcastic. We'll never know.
ok, i was busy this weekend, you caught me off guard. Here is the 3rd one "."

do more PPL like the stock front end or just other aftermarket front ends? If I had my way and enough money I would of went with a RE front end but I had a chance to get a free paint job and the front end for almost nothing so I jumped on it. Just to have something other then stock front. I also would of went with the MS front.

its a matter of personal taste.....you can love one thing and others will always hate it.....personally i think the MS front is boring, old and played out now...so much to the point that people think its stock.....keep what you love and dont let any one tell you how to mod to your taste...thats why we are all individual and that is why this forum is so great.....cuz every one like something different and there is variety

if the "nose" stuck out a little less I'd like it. It is just a little over the edge, like the Mercedes SLR McLaren nose.

I like it :)

Well, I love it!

I've been waiting to have my second RX-8 for a loooong time, and now I wanna get one.

Please tell me, with the original suspensions and weels, how high (or low!) is the front of the car fron the ground now.

Did you find problems passing over booms?

Thanks, ciao

PB

The roundness of the kit doesn't go with the sharp edges of the car. Needs 2 inches cut off that front lip. I can see somebody stepping on it now....maliciously or not.

this is what i mean about pictures and not seeing it in person....the front lip is maybe 2 inches if that....the odd curves dont photo well and most people think the nose is longer than it actually is....

Not a fan of Veilside, but it doesn't look too bad on that brilliant black. I think it's more of a 'growing on me' than 'love at first sight'. My 02cents.

This I like. Form follows function. It also reminds me of an NSX, only like a GT class one with fog lights embedded for a Le Mans race. I love the race car look (not to be confused with a rice car)

Well when I say race car over rice car, I was gonig to go into saying how I like a car modded to where it is obvious it's modded, but it is hard to tell if it just got pulled off a track or is a daily driver. I was going to go on to say, A GT park bench wing, front diffuser, and large foglights can be a stylish (non rice mod) if having true racing roots (in proper applications, no park bench without a rear diffuser and front splitter, or else the look is incomplete, I'm talking full on GT race car, or more subtle mods). I also think yellow tinted headlights are nice looking, because no matter how "ugly" one finds it, it is a functional racing inspired part. Now for what I think rice would be,

Rice is the "look-at-me" neon lights that scream attention. Those light bars aren't making the car any faster, lose em. Large hood scoops (or worse, roof scoops) that feed into nothing. Z3 fenders just cause they're overdone. altezza style tails, because they look tacky and fakinsh on anything but an Altezza, or other rare OEM chromey lights (Rx-8 is devider line, but it's OEM and looks good). Rice can be turning your interior or trunk into a no longer functional fiberglass speakerhouse making your car a boom box that happens to have wheels. To me, rice is mainly something that veers too far from a clean stock look (bulgy items, or round objects on an angular car or vice versa, or just too cliche for a car that obviously isn't super fast and would need these things {i.e. vents and scoops EVERYWHERE rather than a tasteful reverse hood scoop especially one mounted to a v-mounted intercooler or a small fender vent] In a shorter definition rice is an (obviously) out of place modification that adds no function to the vehicle's performance.

The problem is the veilside looks worse than stock.

I agree with 87' Turbo II. Rice are bolt on non-oem parts that make the car slower and/or cartoonish. Veilside definately falls into all those categories. It doesn't make the car any faster, if anything it probably has worse drag than the stock front end. It's ashame to take a car that has pretty clean lines and add a bunch of pointless protrusions that don't do anything except look out of place.

Of course if one's idea of beauty is a front end that looks like it should be part of a street sweeper designed to suck up trash well... Of course if I were getting the paint for free I might go with it too since my front end is all knicked up from being on the track but probably not.

People may think the mazdaspeed front is "played out", whatever that's supposed to mean, but at least it doesn't make the car slower.

+1. Personally, I feel like I am the only RE-fan on the forum, because I have yet to see someone's Rx8 fitted with something from RE Amemiya. I think it is great to hear that you wanted the RE front kit, because at least I longer feel "alone". On the other hand, it made me feel even more special the fact that I was the "only" RE-fan here.

This is opinion not fact. Have you wind tunnel tested this theory? Veilside has been around a long time and has a major following. So much so that movies have adopted thier style of tuning and now spo-com has been fashioned after this look whether or not you like it. I dont see many other tuners getting to this level of fame worldwide.

Of course if one's idea of beauty is a front end that looks like it should be part of a street sweeper designed to suck up trash well... Of course if I were getting the paint for free I might go with it too since my front end is all knicked up from being on the track but probably not.
Again more opinion and no validity to what you are saying.

People may think the mazdaspeed front is "played out", whatever that's supposed to mean, but at least it doesn't make the car slower.
More opinion on your end and I have been told by other people that traded in thier MS kits and traded in thier other lip kits (because of too OEM looking style) because they are now boring and stock looking. It is not my opinion there are several others. You may not like it but this is reality. Im sorry if it bites.

oh and rice:
Race
Inspired
Cosmetic
Enhancments

also, a car can not be rice, as its NOT the cars decisions to get tacky **** slapped on to it, the person is the "ricer", not many people know it, but calling someone a ricer is actaully racial,
