I hope you like it. :)

Wow your paint job is seriously cool! Did you paint it yourself? What HPI model is this?

I have an RS4 3 Type-SS with a Saleen S7R body and Lambo Murcielago body when in racing trim and BMW M3 for when I'm running in my rally conversion trim. All are very basic 1-color paint jobs. Yours are really niiice! You need to trim those body posts tho ;)

Moostafa29 06-16-2006 07:11 AM

Probably faster than the real thing.

GTMarkuz 06-16-2006 07:25 AM

Thanks for your comments. The model is a HPI Pro4 and yes I painted it by myself. I know the Pro4 is very expensive, but for the RX8 it's really worth it, isn't it? :)

mysql101 06-16-2006 07:34 AM

As an added bonus, for $15 you can upgrade your RX-8 to a ferrari.

Now try to do that same mod on the real car and see how far you get..

XDEEDUBBX 06-16-2006 11:08 AM

looks tight man! Wish I had one.

RX8Burg 06-16-2006 11:22 AM

Yeah man nice paint job. RCs can be a blast!

Jaguar_MBA 06-16-2006 11:48 AM

Looks great....>Race it like you stole it !!!

canaryrx8 06-16-2006 11:55 AM

cool thing about these is they're painted inside out, lots of fun doing graphics assbackawards :) I'm still planning on doing one of these someday with an R/c rotary airplane motor, someday it will be done oh yes...someday :D:

nzarnow 06-16-2006 05:38 PM

Take it on the autobahn!

speeddemon32 06-16-2006 06:41 PM

not bad GT, looks greart!

I should post pics of my RX-8 bodys. I have painted several now.

I sold one on ebay a while back that was color change blue and purple. plain but pretty cool. I have one I just did a couple months ago (still has nt even ben driven) that is Yellow with blue checkerboard wave down the side. I have a clear one that still needs to be painted. dont knwo what I will do there.

If I remember about theis thread when I get home I will post some pics. (I forget a lot) :)

oh yeah and I have a Nitro TC3. ;)

RazzyBRX-8 06-16-2006 10:20 PM

Thats really awesome. I talked my friend's stepdad into buying an RX-8 body for his gas powered one. Is that gas powered or electric? I don't know much about them.

Razz1 06-16-2006 10:45 PM

I saw the orage and red lines and I was very impressed with it. Then I realized it was the reflection of the overhead.

How about some "under the hood" pics ;) ?

NgoRX8 06-17-2006 01:33 AM

looks great dude

GTMarkuz 06-17-2006 05:10 AM

wow those are pretty awesome looking!

hondasr4kids 06-17-2006 12:54 PM

got pics of the chassis of the 1/5 one?

nice brushless motor BTW

Rx8maniac 06-18-2006 11:41 PM

Those damn things are for sure faster than the real rx8. Good set up one can hit 0-60 in z06 like speed. I miss mine ;(. I had quite a few including 4tec, Savage, nitromt, mini-t, associated b4 buggy. God I miss them ;(. I need to go get me a 1/10th scale rc and do a rx8 like you did. Although I don't think my paint job would be quite as gorgeous as yours, because damn man that is one nicely done body. Props to the beautiful hpi rx8 :D

RX-Hachi 06-19-2006 02:17 PM

Very nice work!

I also love to build RC cars. Here's a few pics of my HPI RX-8 body. The chassis is the Yokomo drift package.

here is the First RX8 I did. I sold this one on Ebay a while back. color change from blue to purple. :Freak_ani

the last pic is an S2000. I really wish the picture did this body justice. it was a very nice paint job with white stars and specs. kinda had that night time sky look. swirls int he roof.... oh man, she was a nice body. I really wish the pictures could show all the cool stuff in there. but nope, it just looks black. :boring: Sold this one on Ebay to.

First two are a replica I did of Ari Yallons RX7.com Drag car. if you have seen the car before you know about it. if not, then I know it just looks like an american flaged RX-7.... do a google search for Ari Yallon. make sure you find the newer pics and not the old pics of when it was just plain red.

Pic number 3 is just a glittered out 3rd gen I did. looks kinda cool in person.

Pic 4 is a 3rd gen that I messed up on, turned out ok, but not what I had in mind.

5th pic is a 350 Z I sold on ebay. turned out pretty good I thought. not my fav, but nice.

Someday I may do an RX-8 for fun, but sadly they're not good bodies for racing. Here's my latest sedan shell, an Alfa.

Thanks! Just takes practice and a good airbrush helps as well.

If you want to do more marble stuff like you did on the one shell, blue with silver or a dark blue with a really light blue works nicely, if you want to do it with orange offset it with yellow and the same goes for green. A maroonish red with gold or black can yield some nice results as well. I use a plastic bag and apply the darker color first and then dab heavily right after I spray, applying the paint a little thicker than usual helps as well.

Even with rattle cans you can get some pretty nice results. I think masking and design is more important than how much skill you have with an airbrush.

yiksing 06-25-2006 07:42 PM

Is the 8 a 200mm?

Ike 06-25-2006 07:58 PM

190, though they may make a 200mm as well.

speeddemon32 06-29-2006 11:19 AM

yes but wfrom wht I have heard they no longer make the 200. if you can find one it is no longer made. at least this is what I was told.
I just bought 2 200mm RX8s off the internet cause my local hobby shop said they can not order them.

aerospacediver 06-29-2006 01:16 PM

Man those shock struts are HUGE. They go right through the hood and trunk! I wish my car had an antenna like that.
