My first 'big' mod to the car

REVi + Duct...

First, I had a friend help do a parts inventory:

Getting started...

I had read how easy of a task removing the front bumper is, but I had no idea it was THIS easy:

*Note the break/tear in the bottom panel due to a cone I munched whilst at a track day

30 minutes later?

RB's directions are quite clear. I did notice they weren't consistant in naming the parts. For instance: "Remove the 6mm screws..." Every nut or bolt removed from the car (except those for the front bumper support) are 10mm.

After another 30? Minutes:

I figure another 30 minutes and I had the car buttoned up.

Driving into work today the car felt definately more powerful from about 4K on up. I'm a big fan of the duct - especially helpful with this morning's 35? degree ambient temperatures.

Now...if I'd just get my RB exhaust shipped out...Hurry up, RB.

The duct intake doesn't block cooling air to the radiator?

Echo - tell your pal to stop by and introduce him/herself!

HA Yeah - cat back...lol :D

No - it doesn't block the Radiator in the least. The air for the radiator enters below the duct.

Looks nice DMP, hope to hear it soon. Looks like the duct will be hidden by the licence plate mounting though..

As i was the only RX8 running, it musta been me Yeah - I think I was doing pretty well, once I started to 'trust' the tires a bit.

After I moved up to the intermediate group, I believe I was only passed by one car - an M3. Pretty good company, I'd say.

NICE DMP, funny thing is notice how clean the RB intake is...and the rest of the covers are all dusty/dirty...looks just like under my hood (except the gaggle of wires coming out of the hole I dremeled in the battery case and other wire conduit like a spider web )

it had this dirty look to it like yours but not that beat up

what I believe happened is they had that aluminum piece CNCed but it was kind of crudly done and there was never time spend to sand/buff the aluminum to a mirror shine also to get off the raw aluminum deposits in the crevices

then when they went to anodize it blue the crevices did not hold the blue color and we are left with this bluish gray speckled look, not as snazzy

as for yours it doesn't look like it will affect performance but if you don't like it since it is easy to remove that piece just call up RB they are great and will probably replace it free of charge for a less dinged up version.

The problem is there is a total lack of shipping insulation/peanuts whatever to both boxes, the Ram air was just rattling around in the box, foruntately it is rock solid

lol No...I'll keep the Cat Converter in place - I want to keep the car civil, and mostly quiet. The RB exhaust will likely be the last of my "power" mods, until Pettit gets every last bug worked out of their SC kit, anyway.

:D

As a way to generate extra income several years ago, my wife took on a night-time paper route for about a year. $1000 per month, 3 hrs per night.
