5 Attachment(s)
Hi Everyone,
Picked it up last nite, so far so good... what do you guys think? |
VERY, VERY NICE. Enjoy and welcome. :)
Paul. |
looks good man. there are a few things that i HATE about the new body (namely those side markers and the fog light strakes) but most of them can be changed. :) still love those wheels tho.
let us know how it feels - i assume from your post count you didn't have a "1st gen" rx-8 -- maybe you can meet up w/ someone in your area and you can each do test drives and a first-hand comparo for us... |
Wickedddd!!!!!!
|
Congrats and welcome!
|
welcome to the cult!!! errr..... "club".
Not too many 09's running around here, congrats. |

Thanks everyone for the positive compliments. They have been hard to come by in previous forums. Glad to see some maturity for once. :wavey:
My only complaint about the car which I learned today from the DVD that came with it is that you have to let the car warm up for 5 mins before you shut it off to avoid "flooding". Kind of unusual, but this it my first car with a rotary motor so I guess I can expect new things ahead as well. Aside from the poor mileage it gets and having to use 91+ gas it seems like a great car. Feels very responsive at high speed on the highway and solid around turns. I will need to drive it a bit more before I can compare it with my past 2005 350Z. :) |
blackmobile; many people believe that the rotary car needs to be broken in when new so try not to mash the peddle TOO much during the first 600 miles or so. www.racingbeat.com has a guide they recommend following.
Flooding was a big issue with the early 04 models but since has gotten MUCH better. The spark plugs were redesigned, battery upgraded, and a more powerful starter were all put into circulation in 05 to counter the flooding. I very seldom see flooding posts any more. I would say unless it's SUPER cold outside, you shoudl be fine starting the car and shutting it right back off. |
Jedi - Thanks for the link, I will check it out. Also those pieces of info you gave make me a little more comfortable.
Im looking to add accessories pretty quick but not even the dealer had a brushure for 09 accessories yet. He handed me one for 08's which most of the stuff was already on my car stock, or didnt fit my model. Does anyone know what the best sites to check out would be for the 09's for add ons / mods? |
Very nice... I like
|
Congrats...any interior photos? New Navi?? Have fun...
|
man, your profile sig pick looks wicked -- the wheels are SWEET, and the front end it more aggressive than our stock front end.

BTW, I will add a K&N drop in air filter for temporary use if you have no intention to upgrade the intake. Probably ditch the stock exhaust as well. Just my 2 cents...
|
I like it, welcome to the site.

As far as the flooding go the general rule is you do want to warm it up, if you can't make sure you give it a rev to 5k (not over), before shutting it down to help prevent it, try not to go over 5k until your water coolant temp has equalized (just left of the halfway mark, and once you're warmed up be sure to redline it once a day. This ain't your Zed and it loves to see 9k RPM. Check out the new owner FAQs around here and when you want to learn more about something specific remember to search first. Since your car is a little different then most you mind want to remind people you have an R3 when you're asking a question that otherwise would be treated as inane (ie. what springs work with my shocks). |
Looks damn good bro. Congrats.
|
Also, in regards with the flooding issues, I only let my car warm up for a 1-2 minutes before driving. I never had flooding issues, and my 8 is a 2006. You don't need to wait for 5 minutes. Like it was mentioned earlier, a lot of issues have been fixed from the recalls.
|
damn thoes wheels are so sexy
|
dont be bothered by the comments
welcome fellow rotar head!

No the Z used premium and so did the STI. I wanted to find a new car that didnt require 91+ but no luck with this one :lol2: |
Thank you all for being so welcoming. I greatly appreciate everyones tips and advice (and compliments). I would actually like to sell these wheels and put some volks on it sometime for those of you who mentioned the wheels. I havent looked into their values yet so I wouldnt want to post a price but will gladly take offers via PM if anyones seriously interested. Being 19's I know theyre not cheap wheels. So far 52 miles on them. :)
Im not so much a fan of the super low profile tires. I like a little more rubber. The roads around here suck and I hate having to swerve around to avoid everything. I like a 50 profile a lot so I may need to step down to 18s unless they make a 19 with 50 profile. For now, I will get the windows tinted and will get some precut headlight and tail light films at DecalFX to complete the "blacked out" look on the car. I might get some of their yellow lens film to make the foglights yellow, but not sure yet. Maybe just smoke everything. Should look pretty stealthy after that (minus the white license plate) :Peace: Thanks again guys! |
Superb Mate..
Welcome to the Club, and enjoy your stay.. YOU LUCKY BUGGA! Sell your Wheels...Prepared for a RUSH of PM's... I have heard that the 19" low Profiles are very firm, even slightly noisy (road noise) because of the lack of rubber...almost like bicycle rims/tires! ;) I know here in Australia the rims are $1400.00 each, probably around 1100.00 US plus the tires! |
BTW as far as replacing the Exhaust, any performance gains are very minimal if at all, unless you want to change exhaust note, or a more chrome look, don't expect any HP gain either as the factory have done a good job here too.
|
50! are you kidding?? that will throw out the speedo unless youre running something like 16s!
|
congrats on the new facelifted :) just take a good care for it ;)
|
sexy. i want
|
Congrats. Curious though, why did you buy new? Any particular reason you did not want a pre-owned?
Also there's much debate on what gas you can run. Personally I switch off between 89 and 91. I have an 04'. |
Awesome man very nice!
Wanna trade seats? lolll |
Congratulations, welcome and looks great.
|
That is really nice!
|

Welcome aboard, it will really serve you well to bone-up on some good threads on this forum board. The car will treat you well if you do the same (I'm not talking about babying it either) just understand that the car will need more fluid level checks that you may be used to. Keep it serviced properly and get in a few redlines a day to blow-out carbon buildup. Had my early VIN model for 5+ years still going strong, no major issues.
