have donjuanmair teach you the art of HDR. he's really talented with that stuff.
you'd enjoy changing the color of you car using photoshop. it gets the best results with a silver car. it's done by outlining it with the magnetic lasso tool and then editing it with the hue and saturation bars.

PC - good job with only using the magnetic lasso. Try using the pen tool to create paths, you can get way more accurate as well as dropping into its own layer to do a lot of other really cool things too.

hmm, i know about the magnetic lasso tool, ive made a duplicate layer anf changed it there, then erased everything around the car to change it, was fun, but time consuming. Like i said, i only got this program yesterday, so please, any and all advice is welcome.

I find it easier to duplicate the layer, adjust color, then simply delete areas to show bottom layer. No need to try and select all the elements of the car perfectly. Dirty and raw baby!

I've become addicted to adjustment layers, using a layer mask. That way you can keep your original underneath and make lots of different versions on top. Another benefit to it is that you can copy your adjustment layers from one file to another and get the same effect without doing it all over again. I'll try to make a little sample screen grab to show you what I'm talking about.

Here's a quick image showing how I like to tweak colors of things in Photoshop. Of course, there are a million different ways to do this, just thought I'd share one way. This also keeps the file size down the adjustment layers don't have any pixels or anything, just your original art and your masks. This makes it easy to apply an effect you did on another project to a new one.

lol, thanks! I have taught a little, but just for fun and to help out friends. I've been using Photoshop since version 3 I think, mid 90's?
I could be wrong, but I think the options are identical on pc and mac, you could be using a different version. I'm using CS3 and you can move your tools around a little more and change/collapse palettes a little more to your personal taste than you could in CS2. I still have a lot to learn too, always will, I think that's what makes it fun! They add so many features each time they release that I can never keep up.

there's a website that teaches you pretty much everything you need to know about photoshop and wayyyy more. it's http://www.lynda.com/ and it's pretty much amazing. my computer art teacher introduced me to it and it's well worth the money. check it out!
