My 09 R3's bad luck, 2 story's. Must Read!

Well, I bought my car about 2 months ago or so now... I have been lurking around but haven't posted much on the forum. But anyways... the car had 43,000km on it when I got it. My brother has an rx2 and I have a few friends with rotary's and I've wanted one for a while and was originally going to buy an FD but decided to go with an 8 for the fact that it's newer.

Anyways, 1st story of my horrible luck...

2 days after signing the papers for the purchase, I am at the mazda dealership to get the old service records from the previous owner and to check some prices on things etc. Everything was going good, walked up to my car while reading some of the records, got in and was about to turn the car on and the service manager comes out and tells me someone saw somebody back into my car and leave. I get out and look and sure enough, right in the middle of the passenger door, there's a big dent with paint scrapes.

The service manager then told me that they think they knew who it was and that they have all of the person's info as he JUST got a rental car from them. (apparently he got into an accident a week prior) I had the dealer check the security cameras and I got a video of the guy backing into my car and taking off. They called the guy and told him that he hit my car and that he should come down. 2 hours after hitting my car, the guy shows up (he only lives 5 minutes away from the dealer) He gets out and I confront him asking him why he took off etc...

This is the part that you had to read this for... The guy tells me that he **** his pants, and that he had to go home to clean himself. He also claimed he had whiplash and couldn't turn to even see my vehicle. Yet his wife was with him, so either she could have been driving, or she could have even ran in and said that they'd be right back, or left some info and whatever... So many things he COULD have done... And I even said like, if Mazda hadn't called him, he would have never come back and I would have been screwed over... And all he could say was "Someone would have called..."

So anyways, I took the car to my friend who will be fixing it, and he estimated around $1500. The guy that hit my car originally said he would pay for the cost of repairs so that I wouldn't go through icbc, but when I called him to tell him, he wanted me to try and get a deal! So i went to icbc and they've estimated just under $1500.

I'm just waiting for my friend to have some time to do the repair for me and it'll be getting fixed. Luckily it's not thaaat noticable.. but still.

----------------------------------------

Onto my 2nd story... last sunday night, sometime between 11:30pm - 5:00am, my car got egged by some kids. I don't know if its someone that I know or if it was just some punk kids. I woke up late for work as is, so I didn't have time to wash it off. I went to work, and right after work I went to the wash world down the road. The egg yolks and everything came off with a bit of scrubbing etc. But I'm assuming where the egg actually hit, ruined the paint. There's small like, spider web style, in the shape of a bullseye, paint chipped off and down to the primer. Its not from the actual egg white or yolk, I am pretty sure its from the impact of the egg, but its ruined the paint.

So now I have a big dent on the passenger door, that has to be blended into the front fender and the rear door.. and the eggs ruined the paint on the rear driver door.

Here's some pictures of the egg and the paint

This was around 5:00am

There were shells on the hood, front bumper, and the trunk aswell. And there was an egg over on the drive way too my friend said. (Car was parked at her house for the night)

And here's what it did to the paint (sorry not the greatest pictures)

Just under the rear window

and about 2-4 inches below that is this

Seems like you just can't have nice things now a days without people messing with them...

I'm terribly sorry for the bad luck.

Just FYI, you NEVER want to leave egg on your car. Those spots are not from impact but are from leaving the egg on. You should always spray it down with a hose (at the least).

I don't think it's from the yolk or whites being on there cause there would have been more spots down the door and stuff where there was more of it. Also, to the touch, you can feel, it's like a paint chip, not that the paint was like peeled off, or wiped off.. it's like pitted.

And yeah, **** happens... Just sucks it happened so soon.

If the egg was able to dry on your paint, it will start eating through - all the way to the metal. Which from your post it seems like it did.

Sucks that it happened and you have no way of finding out who did it. I would probably be in jail if someone egged my car and I knew who it was

If you don't plan on respraying the door I would at least throw some touch-up paint on there so it doesn't start to rust.

Yeah I have a claim with icbc already for my passenger door that got backed into, so i'm going to give my friend who is fixing that, some extra money to sand down the egged door and paint it and re clear it.

Well I'm only at 2 so far, so I hope nothing else happens

That sucks my fellow canadian friend. On the bright side she'll be looking like new once the repairs are done.

Yeah I park on the street out front of my house because my dad and his wife park in the driveway, and I have my civic parked on the side of the driveway in some gravel because it's un insured. I haven't considered a cover because it would just get ripped off most likely.

Nice cars belong to garages in the night.
If I had a garage I could park in or store a vehicle, I would. But I'm 22 and I live with my dad and I'm returning to school to get my journeyman in welding hopefully in November, so for now I have to park outside.

Sorry to hear buddy. I just can't believe that I got hit and ran 2 days after signing the papers for the car... and the guy **** himself

So how do you plan on preventing neighborhood vandals from getting to the R3 again?

I don't really have a plan. I have a 91 civic also and it got broken into about a year and a half ago and my sub got stolen. I bought a 2 way paging compustar alarm with remote start for it and I haven't had any issues since then.

I think it was just some punk kids who thought it would be cool... My car was parked at a friends place, not at home. So I just hope it doesn't happen again if I'm ever over there again
