Mazdaspeed wing?

I am really sick of hearing "buy authentic, it's the ONLY way to go" and "thats lame, it's a replica" but in all reality, is their a Mazdaspeed replica wing that fits really well, and isn't too narrow from side to side, and isn't almost as much as the "AUTHENTIC". i really don't want to pay $600 for a primed version of the original from the dealer or from the internet. is their one that is reasonable priced that look almost as good as the original?

i don't want to pay the HUGE $$$ for the original but if it "truley" is worth it i guess i have to save up. but if i can save a couple hundred i would love too.

anyone with replicas chime in here for me.

thanks
Anthony

i actually ordered a ms replica for 229.00 plus s/h from ebay when i got my 8 and it was so horrible the body shop quoted me almost 300 for install so i just threw it away i would have passed it on to a member but i didnt want anyone to go through what i did thats why im telling you this the reason everyone says GO AUTHENTIC is coz its TOTALLY worth it bro

ferg 09-27-2009 07:18 PM

yeah, and it takes only a few min for install, do it your self, just save your money for good body parts like MS or SEIBON

chickenwafer 09-27-2009 08:08 PM

There is a reason authentic cost more, and it isn't just the name...fitment

thebiggdaddy 09-27-2009 08:51 PM

Believe us when we say this, but the replicas look different from the authentic. Even if the fitment is perfect, something about the upper spoiler looks off on replicas. Go with the authentic.

Ross_Dawg 09-28-2009 12:09 AM

I have a replica, fitment is 9/10. The only problem with it is that the brackets aren't metal. Other than that, people always ask me first, "This is authentic, isnt it?"

I got it from Fluid but he doesnt sell them anymore

What do you mean only a few? Wouldn't you still have to mark where you're going to drill and mount? I don't know what all it entails for an OEM install but I would think it would take at least 20 mins for someone who knows what they're doing. Correct me if I'm wrong.

sharkpah 09-28-2009 03:03 AM

got my authentic wing for 200 dollars
installed it myself
took me about 2 hours, but went really well =]
im happy

The authentic MS wing reuses the holes from an oem spoiler, so if you already have the oem spoiler, it could take as little as 5 mins to install.

E.M.S. 09-28-2009 08:08 AM

I know, I know. I was really hoping someone would say "go with this replica cuz it's just as good" I do not have a factory spoiler right now and the only one I would get is the MS one. But I have a eurethane front replica and it fit's perfect. I mean perfect after verry little work. The rear was a different story and I went back to stock.

But some replicas are fantastic, I will be drilling holes anyway so fitment to the factory holes isn't an issue, just how the lip follows the trunk curve and quality of material.

It's just the price tag is rediculous. $1,000 painted. Come on. That's absurd.

ferg 09-28-2009 08:12 AM

let me guess, your going to mazda site? i think you can find better pricing some other place im sure

E.M.S. 09-28-2009 09:03 AM

I know if I looked I could find it cheaper if I really searched, but what's the cheapest I'm going to find this thing painted/primed?

I don't compete officially yet so the mazdaspeed discount is out.

thebiggdaddy 09-28-2009 10:51 AM

I'll be nice today:

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...subcat2=121485

There's one that's unpainted and another that's painted.

Razz1 09-28-2009 11:43 AM

that's still expensive.

There is a replica available which I heard is an excellant fit except for the lip. The lip is a little off.

I wish I had a link to that site.

yeah that's huge $$$ and again. the problem.

and i wasn't looking for a link. just a $ figure

I'll search when i'm ready to purchase, aside from buying from a member for a used one, what's the cheapest anyone has found this online?

let's put our heads together and think about this.:grouphug:
and if there is a QUALITY replica, i'm down for that too.

It's the brackets that is the problem. I was in the market for the MS spoiler for a long time. I've even bought a replica in "good" condition. Lemme show you what you get.

It's some sort of plastic, maybe fiberglass? I wouldn't drive with it on my car.

Rkesh88 09-28-2009 05:58 PM

I thought that mazdaspeed products came painted from the factory already?

Krazed_Rx8 09-28-2009 06:11 PM

Not all colors come painted which is one of the reasons you can purchased pieces with just primer.

lilring 09-28-2009 07:06 PM

Fluidmotorsports.com has a good price on a Authentic MS wing $900

E.M.S. 09-28-2009 07:09 PM

Looks like a replica to me. Something about replica MS wings look weird.

lepichichi 09-29-2009 12:30 PM

buy a trunk rear lip, in my opinion i think it looks better than the spoiler.

I already said in a previous post it's a replica from Fluid

E.M.S. 09-30-2009 01:54 AM

Oops, sorry. It does look good though, not only can I not tell, I don't care. It looks good enough and I'm not one of those "it's stupid I'd not authentic" kind of people.

Ross_Dawg 09-30-2009 09:56 AM

Just make sure if you buy a primered replica to have it get a GOOD paint job; nothing screams replica like a shitty paint job

E.M.S. 09-30-2009 11:42 AM

yeah i will be getting it painted by the same place that is painting my car right now. they are the BEST. First place in the world of wheels in multiple catoagories every year. they also build custom bikes. they are super expensive but worth every cent.

now the only question is where to get it. i have searched and found finishline performance has them for $609. aside from tripping and falling on a better deal on the FS section, does anyone know anywhere to get it cheaper?

i was just rattling around in my head the other day whether or not to buy one and now i'm dead set on doing so, soon. so now the hunt for a high quality replica or a cheap deal on an original. now i'm looking for help on price. unless someone wants to geet rid of their TIG already painted one..... yeah didn't think so.

ferg 09-30-2009 11:49 AM

i dont understand, your bitching about a cheaper wing but you dont care about spending how much on a paint job? lol if you can pay for a full body paint job then why cant you just get a $600+ wing.

super duper expensive lol

E.M.S. 09-30-2009 03:10 PM

it's all about principle. i don't think it should cost $1,000. never said anything about $600 being a bad price. i got quoted a price of under $400 for paint and install including eyelids, i don't have a spoiler right now so it needs to be lined up and drilled and installed. so think about it. $1000 plus shipping or i have to pick it up at the dealership. my paint is super faded due to the PO not taking care of it so it wont match at all. but this way if i paid $600 + paint it still comes in under $1000 and i get it installed, paint matched and the eyelids matched as well.

also i am not paying the full price in having my car painted. it was in a minor accident and the drivers side and front were being payed by insurance and the rear is a brand new bumper so i just have to pay for paint not prep. it was pretty cheap considering what i'm getting done.

anyway. just wiggled a deal to get the same replica as Ross Dawg for a great price without even trying so i'm all set. but thanks anyway guys. appreciate the opinions.

pdxhak 09-30-2009 03:16 PM

Do not confuse with what you are calling your principles with the free market. The market will level set itself. If you do not like it and if the majority agreed with you then the price would be lowered or it would not longer be produced due to lack of profit. In this case there are enough people out there that do not agree with you and are willing to pay the price.

E.M.S. 09-30-2009 03:58 PM

ok not my priciples but my ideals of value, not free market.

example.

natural stone tile. there is a huge mark up over the cost of production although there is no benefit to stone vs. ceramic. actually ceramic can be made to look just like natural stone until you are within 4-5 inches. just like the MS wing. ceramic actually has a few benefits over natural tile but lets leave them alone for the perpouse of comparison lets call them even. why would you want natural tile. it's the same install and the same prep and the same look when finished. most people want natural tile because of the bragging value of telling the jones's next door that you have natural tile.

same reason people want hand nailed roofing. they think it's better and want to brag that they have a hand nailed roof. it costs more and you get the same results. actually i would take a gun nailed roof over hand nailed anyday. but it's bragging rights to the neighbors.

i'm all for the original and if it was only slightly more than the replica i would cough up the extra for the bragging rights and the 100% fitment but for 92% fitment and the same performance i will take the replica. because it's what I feel it should be worth. not what someone tells me it should be worth. again i would want the original, just like i would want an original MS bumper but cost and value do not match up. front bumper fitment on the rx8 is cheap, there is only one body line that has to match, next to the headlight. it's easy. so why spend 2x the price. eurethane will give when bumping a curb and not crack like the original. so with fitment it would still cost less (for the front) so why do people buy the original and then make sure they state to everyone that it is "original" who cares? what's the bennefit?
