Mazda Rx 8 WinS over PORCHE and FERRARi and others.......
The Porsche factory might produce these cars but they are far from production based street cars and are built specifically for these type of races. The comparison is valid.
With that being said the RX-8 that won shares almost nothing other than the way it looks to our production RX-8 but its still a Mazda rotary win and thats what people are excited about.

Surely, the Porsche GT3 Cup isn't your run of the mill 997, but it is based directly on a 997 (and not fabricated from tubes to meet an "RX8" or "911" template).
Hey, I'm all for the Mazda win, yet, I like for the facts to be stated before everyone goes bonkers that Mazda>Porsche.

Actually the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is a factory car, some teams don't change a thing from factory to the track...
Never said they did.
All I said is its not a street car and is a purpose built race car. Makes no difference who builds it.
Heres pictures of a factory GT3 Cup car http://www.seriouswheels.com/cars/to...97-GT3-Cup.htm which is far from your average Porsche you see on the road. They might come from the same factory but they are far from being the same car. Thats all im saying.

Basically they are on the same playing field. You can't tell me that no modifications were done to the Porsches. SO basically they took one from a dealer and said lets go drive the car for 24 Hours straight. I think not.
ROTARY POWER!
What do you mean, don't all street cars from Porsche come with roll bars and stripped out interiors for 180K?

Even though the RX-8 isn't based on the factory car, it's still a great achievement simply because:
A) It's custom built, not an out-of-the-box racer than anyone can go buy.
B) It's got a freakin rotary in it!!
also keep in mind that porsches to mazdas are not apples vs. apples. with all the differences to the rx-8, it's probably CLOSER to being apples to apples than it would be if the 8 were stock!!
