leave the engine cover on.

Oh, and this looks better:

You might want to search for threads on Catch Cans or THIS could be your intake down the road...

there's some pretty nice catch cans on ebay for good prices. The picture is from my buddy's RX-8, you can imagine how much fun it was to try and get that filter clean....

but your engine cover back on. its there to divert air flow and keep your engine cooler.
but your battery cover back on as well... similar reason.
I would also recommend making something to cover the top of the intake - once again... similar reason.

Intakes are such a waste of money. Put in a K&N drop in and be done.

Is the cover really to divert air flow? I just leave mine off.

Yeah, there was a thread in where one of the members tested the temeratures in the engine bay in different areas with the cover on/off. The difference was very significant.

Unfortunately I dont have mine on because the blow off valve gets in the way. My intake box is also open, no battery box, and no EMS box. Its like an oven in there but hopefully i'll have a vented hood real soon and that should solve that.

i don't think it would have been a good idea with mine. there was so much oil in the stock intake. it was all over the stock filter too. i need to put that oil catch in there soon.
