I just got my new RX8

It has an Automatic Transmission, fully decked out.
The only thing I didn't get was a spoiler(I want the X-men spoiler) and the NAV system.(Pretty steep at 2G's, when I can just use my laptop)
I like the BOSE sound system and I am adding a subwoofer next week.
I want to get a body kit for it and I have looked on the internet, but haven't found many.
Also is there a speed govenor on these things?
I can't go faster than 125MPH....
I was only at 4900RPM and the red-line is 7500???

Welcome , You will love the A/T. i have had mine 1 month , have put 2500 miles on it . It is the most comfortable and enjoyable car i have EVER owned...........

There's a dynamic limitation to RPM if the engine is not a good temperature, to protect to engine. Could that be your case ?

Otherwize, mmm, did you release the hand-brake ?

 

Congrats on the new purchase. Don't know about top speed limits on the A/T, but if it's new you shouldn't be driving that fast anyway. Check the break-in procedure. Good color choice!

 

one question..why did you get an automatic?

 

because autos rule!.....<----- ducks head waiting for all the tomatoes from the 6 spd people....hehehe

 

when do you really need to go 125+ mph?

 

1._When your running late to work? for one always do it :D
2._ some rice burner want to get jiggy. just leave him behind :D

when i bought my 8, id never owned a manual trans mission car, all autos, and i thought autos were cool, but i said im not getting a sports car unless its a speed, and i couldnt be happier, im sooooooo glad i went 6 speed, so much more control over the engine, the extra 2k rpm redline, and 40hp is nice.....im just saying why spend all the money on a car that performs well and buy the weak transmission?

I love my AUTO and I'm proud of it! I'm not a speed freak, but more of a handle freak. Plus, CA traffic is very unforgiving if you drive a STICK.

DAMN 405 and 5 freeways!!!

 

I drove SoCal traffic for years with an MT. I just considered it leg exercise.
