just thinking about debadging and decided to take it up with photoshop before doing anything rash. What do you think?????? :uhh:

I don't think it makes your car look any better or worse. It just makes people at a stop light stare at your rear and say, "What kinda car is that?" If you like the mystic and you have extra cash to burn, go for it.

redcivic 08-21-2006 07:22 PM

You should photoshop that bodykit off. But I guess the debadging looks okay. Something is missing though.

Moostafa29 08-21-2006 07:25 PM

Debadging is cool. I guess I never really saw the point in it though.

The point is you reduce weight. :)

I like the whole de-badged look on some cars for sure especially if there aren't many of that particular car around.

For example, I have a old 5th Gen Celica that I removed the badges from when I had it painted (left the Toyota logo but removed the "Toyota, Celica and GT" badges from it and noone ever has a clue what it is... (not because its some expensive car or anything, but simply because noone around here really has one)

I get people everywhere asking me what it is all the time, I like the idea of having something that people don't recognize, then again alot of people asked me what it was even when the badges were still on it. :)

Have you ever seen a Honda with a bodykit that looks like a plastic shell was placed over the car? I mean huge plastic hangovers beside the wheels. That's what this RX8 looks like. If that is the look you want, you've got it.

Debadging, I think, gives an $8,000 look for this $31,000 car. When you see a debadged "Viper" it means it is just a wannabe-Viper bodykit.

NgoRX8 08-21-2006 09:44 PM

debadge looks cool IMO. yes i did it. haha.

veilside rear looks messy IMO. yes i don't have it.

But its funny i think to go with pieces from differing kits. Quality could be different and kit height could be different. I played it safe and i love the looks. I do have some issues with the back but hey its on and its staying as far as im concerned..... TOO much money :mdrmed:

artx8 08-21-2006 10:11 PM

thanks all for the comments .....Looks like its a big negative so far

i took the badges off last summer and love the look

LiL BenNy 08-22-2006 02:53 AM

i think debaging is overrated... i painted my emblems black cuz i like the contrast.... but thats imo...

redcivic 08-22-2006 09:24 AM

Let me se your emblems painted black please.

Apostle 08-22-2006 09:40 AM

Art, i think i saw you this weekend.

on I4 headed into Otown.

and im actually glad i did, going with VS, but since i saw your rear (car, not body :) ) having second thoughts.

def doing the front bumper, rear will have to be given consideration

RA-Eight 08-22-2006 09:45 AM

I don't mind debadging the "Mazda" and "RX-8", but leaving the Flying M. Everything looks so cluttered back there with all three emblems. Debadging these 2 emblems would clean it up nicely.

painter1 08-22-2006 05:31 PM

Tru Dat^

XDEEDUBBX 08-22-2006 05:44 PM

man, you need some rims bad..

NgoRX8 08-22-2006 05:47 PM

^haha

artx8 08-23-2006 10:20 AM

hook me up with some then.....xdeedubbx. If i need them that badly

XDEEDUBBX 08-23-2006 10:42 AM

hahahaha, no offense but i think rims should always come before body kits. It just looks way too incomplete. But things like this take time unless you have deep pockets. =)

And that, my friends, tells you all you need to know about de-badging.

alfy28 08-23-2006 10:56 AM

yah i agree with xdeed, i tend to go supension>rims>engine mods>then body

2tone 08-23-2006 11:12 AM

THE best solution

I don't like it completely debadged, so I took off the "Mazda" from the left side, and the "Flying M" from the middle. I MOVED the "RX-8" to the center of the trunk, under the break light. It looks awesome! I'll try to take a pic when I can.

Upside - moving the RX-8 to the middle covers the 2 holes from the Flying M if you position it correctly. I still have to get the 3 holes from Mazda filled in though...

RENESIS_NEENJA 08-23-2006 11:13 AM

Wait a sec, is that a Type R sticker on your car!? :Freak_ani :Eyecrazy:
