Here's another pic. On another note there is a website that has, I think, an in car video of this drifter. Unfortunately it's a Japanese website and you need to be a member of this site. I tried to join, but the site is still under construction. But for now enjoy the pic....

Your right Wiggles, I should start a new thread. The Japanese probably got the idea from Bertil Roos. He invented teaching "Slideways" car control in the seventies. He is one of the few who could compete with a 2L Chevron against the 5/6 L Can Am cars of the era. That was awesome. I suppose I should let the children have a little doughnut in the sun.
i was reading an interview of the drift king and he said the art of drifting originated from rally racing and then adapted by street mountain racers in japan.

Try placing your cursor on those red x's, then right click, then click on "show picture". If that doesn't work try refreshing the page. If all else fails just go to SpeedHawaii.com and check out events and check out "D1 Grand Prix Rd. 5"

yeah screw the fact that its one of the most skill involved and laborious forms of motorsports, we want drag and oval racing for our very sophistacated automotive entertainment tastes

GET REAL, If you own a sports car you have to apreciate ALL of these.

GRANTED, trying to drift to and from work/school IS stupid, just like driving like a maniac every time you get behind the wheel. But as a sport come on, they all thake skills, and all are as exiting as it gets. You want to call a sport boring or stupid, try golf or profesional pool. Both sports if your not playing, are not worth watching. Just IMO.

DRIFTING the 8. This is a biased opinion but I dont think there are many cars out there better suited for it, 50/50 weight distribuition, almost perfect neutral handling, light wheight yet it has an ENORMOUS wheel base. It should be right there with the Sylvias, AE86's, FD's, ect. the ony problem would be the price tag, whreking this car would be awfull.
only problem here is its the worst japanese RWD car possible for drifting

A LOT of those professional drifters would kill ANY of us on ANY day in a time attack. Tsuchiya is the Drift King, Orido, ***, Rhys Millen, Tarzan Yamada, Hubernette, ...

We are talking JGTC 300 and 500 class, rally bread, cart and "la monz(spelling issues)" experienced drivers. No disrespect to SCCA (heck I want to drive in it myself), but that's the kitty pool to some of these guys.

I've been drifting on and off starting in 1988, when I was stationed in Japan. I've slid around some pretty scary (and narrow!) roads while there - and in a number of JDM cars (obviously). I've kept up with it since that time and with a number of cars, to include a 93 and 94 Corvette. All that said, I've found that the stock 8 is hard(er) to drift. Not impossible, but definitely more difficult than 240sx's and the ever popular AE86. I'm currently working several options to build my 8 into a streetable drift car. Suspension set up is key, and LSD is huge. I'm in contact with both JIC Magic and KAAZ for drift specific components.

Though most here share my view on the sport, drifting really is exciting and I really don't think anyone would knock it once they've actually gotten behind the wheel and tried it. To tell the truth, I used to think running the 1320 in a straight line was pretty hoo hum, but when you're out there watching the lights flash down the christmas tree and jammin' thru the gears, I tell ya, it's pretty damn fun!

Just my 2 cents...

drifter d sends...
