Not to be rude at all, but I never did understand why people put carbon fiber body parts on their car. It's just a different color hood now than the rest of the car and looks kinda tacky...
Just my 2cp.

Can you provide a good side profile picture showing the entire car along with other whole car pictures included ? THis hood should provide extra venting of heat , if tyou live in a hot area this is a good idea to have, if you dont like the carbon look then paint the hood IMO.

Here's a link to that hood.

In carbon, it's $689, while fiberglass is $589. It's a nice hood, but I'd rather have the R-Magic.

May not be totally rice...but it's totally ugly! Whatcha save in weight? 1/2 a pound maybe? Can't see the use of spending $600 on something that really is only asthetically pleasing to 10% of the population. Just my .02 cents

My thoughts on carbon fiber hoods for the RX-8:
Yes, it is better than fiberglass. It's lighter and more supple. I've seen video of someone jumping on a carbon fiber hood, and it retains its shape. Try that with fiberglass...
1) Carbon is good for reducing weight but retaining some semblance of strength.
2) The Alu hood is already LIGHT. You won't shave much by using carbon.
3) Alu is a good heat conductor. Carbon is not. Rotaries are HOT. If you don't have good ventilation on a carbon hood, you might be in trouble!
4) Carbon looks cool. Just face it. It's a cool material, and it looks cool. Rice, to me, is making claims that are untrue or doing something stupid, whether that is claiming you have parts on your car that you don't via the stickers that are everywhere, or putting a triple-decker wing on your car that is just an over-sized paper weight when you think it is functional (but, hey, it might add 30 pounds of down force at zero MPH ; ). However, there is such a thing as an appearance mod. All you people who have clear corners know that it offers NO function. It just looks better. Let a carbon hood be an appearance mod. It's not rice, just a look. And what looks good is subjective (even if alot of people agree that it is ugly).
