I sat inside of the USDM GT-R!

I snuck into the GT-R when no one was looking, I was the first person to sit inside the USDM GT-R besides the corporate people! Basically, the guy who unloaded the GT-R from the trailer left something in the truck and I noticed that he didn't lock it so I quickly jumped in and a friend took pictures of it. I got in big trouble but it was worth it. :) Oh, there's no VIN on it either. After being scolded by the Stillen people, they told me that I was the first one to be in it besides the corporate people. w00t!

Here I am in it.

Another one with me in it.

Spinning Sushi 05-20-2008 08:12 AM

Dude, the car is like pure sex... too bad it's out of my league right now. One day I'll be able to afford it. :)

Spinning Sushi 05-20-2008 08:46 AM

I think this is the same GT-R in this youtube video that was tested by MotorTrend:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=CSjhHRqULSA
The license plate says 562 which matches the ones in the photos. :)

altspace 05-20-2008 08:49 AM

Dude that's a sweet 8! Oh wait, it's posted in the wrong thread....hehe...j/k nice snap.

SideOfBacon 05-20-2008 08:50 AM

I have already started saving up for it. I want to be able to drop about a 10k downpayment. figure by about 2 or 3 years after it hits the market I can afford a 2-3 year old model with ~10k downpayment (thats my hope anyhow).

$69850 - $71900 for 2009 model - 10,000 dp = 59850 - 61900 minus 8 trade in (hopefully about another 8-10k = ~50 grand brand new... figure 10-12 grand off for a 2-3 year old model (~5k a year loss of equity). rounds out to be somewhere between 35-40k or 72 months @ 6% = only 11 dollars more a month than the 8

I know I'm supposed to like the GT-R like everyone else, but the side and rear angles make the car look like a whale. I just don't find it that attractive.

Agreed. The second pic down, I immediately thought of a Mustang.

ditto.

I know its the shit.. but i just think if im going to spend 60-80k i think id rather buy a m3 or a Z06.

SideOfBacon 05-20-2008 09:00 AM

^ I used to agree with those statements. but after seeing one IN PERSON (not sitting in it like some people got to do ), my opinions/views changed.

Same here, I thought it was ugly until I saw it in person... and after sitting in one. :p:

alienRX8 05-20-2008 09:01 AM

yeah I find it to be a bit too big too. I like smaller sports cars myself. But I have to admit, that thing is a beast.

mysql 05-20-2008 09:03 AM

All your opinions of the GT-R are null and void unless you've seen it in person, driven it into a tree, then watched it catch fire. I happened to do just that last weekend and I still think it's a whale.

lol

the major difference as to why I wouldn't go with an m3 or z06. EVERYONE who can afford a 70k car, gets the bdubs, corvettes, etc. not many of these will be on the road. something that drew me to the 8 as well. its uncommon popularity on the road. BMW, Mercedes, Corvettes used to be a vehicle that showed class a "society of wealthy". now they are a dime a dozen on the roadways.

It's not as big as you think it is. I thought it was big when I saw the pictures but after seeing one up close and personal, it's actually pretty short in height and in length. It's alot wider than most cars though.

there is one MAJOR thing that I didnt like about it, the body does remind me a bit of the 350z.

nycgps 05-20-2008 10:28 AM

I can get one, but not at this time.

I asked a few dealerships in NYC, the markups are pretty crazy, one even said if Im willing to pay 10K markup, I can get it as soon as Late June or Early July.

You can get anything if you pay for it.

Saw it at Detroit next to the 350Z...I was shocked how much larger it was than the Z...my experiences/thoughts were the direct opposite after seeing it in person.

LOL, hell yeah! Definitely worth getting in trouble for.

The R35 is big but it seems to handle its mass well. Just this pic alone is beautiful.

I wonder how is the turning radius? will it handle well in Manhattan traffic? Will it out-drag an NYC cab? I wonder....

HockeyRX-8 05-20-2008 12:08 PM

I hate you......j/k

canaryrx8 05-20-2008 12:22 PM

car performance wise is astonishing, looks wise....meh. If I had money to burn I'd be all over it, if I didn't but had the means and was comtemplating a 70k car, no bmw, no vette, no gt-r here, I'd build a sick one off custom instead. It'd be more fun to drive, be more unique than 98% of what's out there, and done right by the right people, it would appreciate in value rather than lose value over time. ;)
Still, must have been sweet sitting in that thing, I would love to check out the onboard computer/electronics/whatever you call it :)

crafted_soul 05-20-2008 01:19 PM

Comparing M3 or Z06 to GT-R is like comparing T-rex to Godzilla. Eventhough Godzilla is big and heavy as hell, it can still cruch a T-rex and swallow it in one gulp!:spank:

Yeah, the electronics were super cool. I wonder if I messed up any of the settings?

CoNsRx7 05-20-2008 01:52 PM

so what kind of trouble did u get into??

Gish 05-20-2008 02:43 PM

Would this be the first besides all of the magazine editors and such?

Were the cars at auto shows that people sat in all JDM spec or US spec?

Detrich 05-20-2008 03:25 PM

any other colors there SE3P?

i'd like to see a black one or a blue one please :)

Nothing really major really. Something about intruding which I totally understand. :p:

They also had a white one. :)

I sat in the JDM version at the Boston Auto Show. VIP pass from Infiniti/Nissan.

Spinning Sushi 05-20-2008 03:44 PM

Ah, but you can't say that you were the first non-commercial person to sit in one. :p:

Hate to burst your bubble, but I am sure many, many family and friends of executives/journalists have already thoroughly enjoyed the interior of this car...

SHHH!!! Don't ruin my fun yet!

05rex8 05-20-2008 07:17 PM

they look like a 350z/g35 coupe/altima/maxima in one ugly expensive package

UFGator12 05-21-2008 01:46 AM

i really like the red and white colors. i would not spend 70k on a nissan though no matter how well it performed, unless i just had lots of money to spend and already owned an R8 and other cars as well... but that's just me. i would much rather have an M3 with some money to spare if i only could own one car. but, i guess i need to see it in person first.
