^I don't think there is any, it's just a trait of the rotary.....but someone else can explain it better.

I have a B&B midpipe. It replaces the catalytic converter with a straight pipe. I wasn't shooting flames like that at all before I removed the cat. I have a stock muffler, though. The midpipe saves a bunch of weight and adds more power (~8hp) than a cat-back system (~2-5) would. It's similarly louder like a cat-back would be, except it's a lot cheaper, smells like a race car (it's suffocating standing behind the car), and shoots flames!! You've gotta be revving the crap out of it or basically on the race track to get it to flame, though.

A week ago, I had a guy riding my rear bumper. I revved it to redline and bounced it a few times and got the big BOOM that I've learned equates to a FLAME! He backed waaaaaaay off!
I had been waiting to have the opportunity to do that since I got it!!

 

It IS a trait of the rotary, but it doesn't do that stock. To help matters, the motor runs very rich, dumping extra fuel in there to help with the flaming... IF you don't have a cat. I think some people have been able to get flames with the cat still in, though.

my luck, i'd do that to someone and it would be a cop. and i just know shooting flames can't be looked to highly upon by law enforcement, legal or not

Not everyone has smog. Florida doesnt

he has no mods...Ti's are just more powerful and shoot flames...it was a feature mazda added to all Ti models
