That's fucked up. Any witnesses?

I don't think it's technically your fault if the person did a dangerous merge, but I could be wrong.

Sorry.....without concrete witnesses, you're screwed!
Anytime you hit someone from behind, it's your fault.............unless you have solid, undeniable proof they did something really stupid.

Can any1 gimme an estimate of how much it might cost to repair this?
I might not go with the insurance and repair it myself so my premium wont go up.

ok so you've taken photos of the damage, given your statements, and you've reported it to your insurance. Now go have a beer!!!

I unfortunately have the great honor of being an insurance adjuster. Really don't do cars anymore but I'd say you're looking at something around $2500 - $3000 for a proper repair. That's assuming your headlamps are ok though. They look like they shifted and it's possible the tabs may have broken. It's minor damage but parts are crazy expensive.

If you plan on keeping the car for a while my best advice is to get it done right and go to a quality shop. It's more expensive that way but the only thing worse then having accident damage is having a jacked up repair. You would not believe some of the hack work you'll see out there.

Good luck with everything.

If I made a dumb mistake like that and got rear ended I would admit it was my fault... I hope that chick that you hit feels like a total flakey bitch.

well you should get estimates from different shops in your local area if you dont want to use your insurance.

if you get mazdaspeed there are forum vendors that can get some good pricing on the bumper, it should come prepainted so dont be scared at the price they give you.
