Greddy Turbo 8 at the track

Made it to the dragstrip and I did 4 runs. The first 3 were bad due to wheelhop and 1 misshift grind into 2nd. Below is a link of the 4th run which I had a good launch and no problems shifting but there were other issues......

Dragstrip Video file hosted by Nemesis8 ... (Right click and click "save target as")

This was Temple Academy raceway which isn't very good.
-more expensive
-dip in the strip 3/4 of the way down
-actually meant to be a 1/8 track, shutdown area is too short for 1/4mile
It was my first time there only because I found it was closer to where I live (50 miles away).
I will stick with San Antonio Raceway (75 miles away) and I should make it out there next week.

More videos to come.

What are you running for suspension?

Don't feel bad - I still have yet to go. I am going to the track with my mechanic...so hopefully I will fair well. I am still tuning, so maybe in a couple of weeks...

Looks like fun - just don't trash your car.

14.1215 ?

Link should work.

Suspension stuff... Mazdaspeed springs/shocks, MS front/rear strut bars, MS front/ rear sway bars. I launch at 4k-5k rpm and try to feathered it until I could get traction.
I still need to tune mine, waiting for my canscan to arrive. Using my boost controller, I'm running 7.5psi peak/ 6 psi holding. I also have Mazdamaniacs map loaded, not the latest 05/05 one but the one before.
Not sure if the 14.1 is correct. My other bad runs were in the 14.5-14.8 sec. Before turbo, my best was 15.0, on the 19" axis wheels. Hoping to get into the high 13s with the same 19" wheels/tires. May try different wheels and drag radials after that.
Other upgrades since the 15.0 besides the turbo are racing beat flywheel, bonez clutch disc/plate, RP short shifter.

^ how is the Bonez clutch? any vibrations or problems? or is is golden..and feels .. well at least runs liek stock?

your times would've been better i think with 18"s for rims.....but who knows.

what size tires are you running?

EDIT: Video link fixed.

The bonez clutch is good. You can feel it grab harder, alittle stiffer than stock but not too noticeable. One gripe is that the engagement point is with the pedal slammed to the floorboard, it needs to be adjusted.

Strange in that you got the hole shot off the Pontiac, but it look like it caught up to you & passed you, yet it says from the timeslip that it ran a 14.41. Did he let up at the end ?

"Something's not right..." :D Congrats on being the first (I think?) to take a turboed 8 to the track. Hopefully after you get it tuned and get some more practice you'll be deep into 13s.

He actually got the hole shot. You'll see the yellow lights blink on the tree after the green comes on. His back tires passing the staging lights first then mine, I spun for alittle bit.

I don't want to break anything so I'm not doing any clutch bombs. I may try launching at alittle higher rpm next week.

hmm i wouldn't want to break anythign with that kinda added power either.

i've only gone to a 1/8 mile tracke and i sliped the clutch at 3k rpm and got a 9.6 in the 8th (bone stock car):D

but it was a really nice trake that had some pretty fast times.

go to a good track then i bet you'll have a 13s timeD

What type/size of rear tires are you running on your Hiro's ?

I know all about poor tracks. I usually run out at Palmdale. It is 1000's of feet above sea level, hot & the pavement is awful. Different tracks will give you drastically different times.
