Talking Finally installed HIDs and clear corners

Well today my parts came in that I ordered last week. I installed the clear corners no problem. the DIY really helped....... ONly problem was taking out the reflector. That took 30 minutes..


the HID install was a big ole bitch. Not because of the bumper removal. not becuase of the wheel well. But because of the bulb installment. There is a clip that holds the bulb in place that the manual and DIYs failed to mention. SO there i was trying to fit the bulb in. but after the first bulb got in the second was no sweat.. All in all, install took 2 hours working by myself(and very slow I might add) Oh yeah, when taking off the bumper, there are like 12 bolts undernesth you have to take out. In a DIY I looked at, it says there are only 8 (https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...bumper+removal)


They have a purple hue to them and they are hizzzot.

Upgrade: 4500k--->6000k

Very nice! i love the 6000k bulbs....

makes me want to order a pair...:D but i really dont want to be removing my bumper and all that........it'll be a pain in the ***!

is that the only way to get to the headlights?

Go to http: globalpremier.com

then click on D2S bulbs on the left hand product list.(only order bulbs if you already have stock HIDs. Order the kit if you have Halogen.)

Costs $47.99 each.
The HID kit is $315

Taking the bumper of is neccessary. It's easy though. Getting your hands into the car is kinda hard if you have big hands. It took me a while to get the bulb in, because there is a clip that I didn't know about. like I said, first bulb is harder to install, but once I figured out the trick it took 2 seconds.

Is it me, or are the HID's actually dimmer then the stock lights? Is it just the photo?

yeah I have HID's. I was looking for the same affect as the BMW or Audi's.

It is dimmer. No bulb is brighter than OEM, but that's cool color!

And you don't need to remove the front bumper to change HID bulb. You need to do it just like when you change front turn signal bulbs (The instruction is in Owner's manual). Just raise the front a little bit, then it will be easier to access the bulb.

may be a simple question, but why didnt you go with 8000k bulbs instead? if you're going through the hassle of removing the bumper etc, would imagine you would want something that stood out a little more. HIDs come in temperature ranges up to 12000k, which is abit much in my opinion (very purple), but 8000k gives a nice electric blue hue.

If your changing out the just the bulbs, this method should suit you just fine. But I would still remove the bumper, it's not hard, and it just gives you more room to work with.

8000k are useless. the blue is nice and all, but I wouldn't trade the blue tint for maximum road visibility

And it does stand out if you compare to stock RX8s..

can someone shed some light as to how this could be done?

just jack on the front end of the car.... and?

Im assuming once the front end is jacked up there will be enough room to reach the ehadlight from under the car?

It seems easy to jack up the car, but taking the bumper off was no sweat. Gives you direct acess to the bulbs

Sorry for the unclear explanation. I thought everybody changed their front turn lights to stealth bulb :p .
As written in the Owner's manual, turn the wheel all the way to the side where you want to change the bulb (right bulb > wheels to right). Jack up that front a little bit for better access to the bulb. Remove plastic retainers from wheel well cover. Partially peel back the cover for access to the bulb. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery. Access to the bulb through wheel well. Remove cap on HID low beam by turning it anti-clock wise (like 1/5 turn). Disconnect HID wire from the bulb by turning it anti-clock wise (like 1/5 turn). Remove metal clip (two legs in the upper side) by squeezing it, then pull it. Change the bulb.

Clear enough? Hope this helps.

Oh so thats what you meant ... lol Ya i changed my turn signals the exact same way... altho i didnt find it as easy as others have mentioned.... maybe my hands were abit on the large side :D

But this should be abit easier as the HID lowbeam is closer to the fender lining than the turn signals..

hmm...im just kinda questioning the quality of the bulbs theyre selling on the website you posted..... what brand are they? Are they some asian knockoff brand?

I've talked about this matter with many ppl and have done some research on the internet..... everyone and everything i read points me to Phillips ultinon 6000k bulbs.... theyre supposed to be the best in the biz... but theyre close to 250 a pair

I highly doubt it. many people on this forum have purchaed from that website and i haven't heard of any quality issues. Or any issues at all.

$250 for a bulb is just plain ridiculous.

Usually the knock-ff brands sell a "tinted" HID bulb to produce the the various color outputs. They say that those bulbs are real HID and that you cant get a better deal on 'em.
Give it they'll fit into an HID ballast, but these bulbs are ****. 'Nuff said.
