Headlights still work...

mysql 03-25-2008 07:32 PM

here's another car fire:

http://videos.topredline.com/recentv...b000e84ed8.htm

After watching how ineffective the fire extiguishers were, I wonder if it would make any more sense to just have a giant half dome shaped metal container you could drop over a burning car to smother it.

anet1737 03-25-2008 07:58 PM

thats horrible...

As Dave Coleman from SCC once wrote, putting a stainless steel heat shield on your bumper to prevent a bumper fire is rice. Putting a stainless steel heat shield on your bumper to prevent another bumper fire is not rice.

I'll have to ask him if this means we're all allowed to do that now. New BHR product?

fahrfegneugen 03-26-2008 12:55 AM

I guess that was the only way the guy could figure out how to burn the rear tires with an automatic rx8.

Pink Flea 03-26-2008 01:02 AM

Kris 03-28-2008 01:34 PM

Dude i wonder if he would sell the OEM Hid ballasts :P

But in reality, its a sad way for any 8 to go.

Jeison 03-31-2008 02:52 PM

at least it looks like it was taken care of before the fire, the hood and rims are clean!

thats one hell of a tough draw though :(

Alucard 03-31-2008 04:52 PM

that poor rx8 :(

KouMeng 03-31-2008 10:42 PM

Perhaps they are not missing.

Perhaps they are a molten blob at that stage. Have heard the rear doors are aluminium & if thats true, doesn't aluminium have a lower melting point than steel.....??

Amazing how well modern day cars burn with all their plastics

Reality says this RX-8 may be stolen & the theives wanted to torch the evidence.......

REgards

ASH8 04-05-2008 12:02 AM

Yep, Rear Door Shells are Aluminum.

9krpmrx8 04-05-2008 06:40 PM

A moment of silence..................................:icon_no2 : I hate seeing nice cars go out like this.

fahrfegneugen 04-22-2008 02:00 AM

Who has a fire extinguisher in the car? I think that might be a good mod...

zacknolden 04-22-2008 08:44 PM

Oh shoot! I think the whole fire started inside of the car! I think it was burning for couple of minutes.

LiL BenNy 04-23-2008 03:28 AM

excuse my ignorance but how is it possible for the fire to be at the rear end of the car? generally i though when most cars catch fire its from the engine bay...

no smart ass comments im actually curious to know what technical possibilities could have caused this?

jonklsn 04-23-2008 02:38 PM

drove with the ebrake on for a few miles maybe?
