FINALLY got my Seibon "CF" trunk painted and on the car!
Well I got the new trunk bolted to the car today.
This whole project started with the idea of putting a GTO wing on my factory steel trunk. But, since the holes don't line up I would have to drill out new holes and fill the old ones. I also wanted to fill the factory third brake light hole and fill in the little location holes for the emblems and badges. After welding the holes shut and the bodywork and primer, I would have been painting the whole trunk anyways.
So that got me thinking; what if I could find a carbon fiber one for cheap enough...they don't have any holes drilled for the wings and no holes for the emblems/badges. The only thing I would have to fill is the third brake light hole.
I ended up getting a sweet deal on a Seibon carbon fiber trunk.
Well when I got it home and bolted it to the car, I wasn't that impressed with the fitment. The gaps between the trunk and the quarter panels was unacceptable for me and the gaps were uneven all the way around. So I set out to fix that...Heres my story:
This first picture shows the fitment when I first got it. The gaps needed to be close up by roughly 1/8" I know it doesn't sound like much but it was definitely noticable

looks nice, I have never seen a trunk lid without the 3rd brake light before. clean look. what about legal requirements for safety? don't you need 3 lights in IN?
