xun4gvn4everx 10-06-2009 12:27 AM

awsum! why was it in pieces?

RyansRx8 10-06-2009 12:30 AM

Looks like a stock black mazda rx8 lol

sanyok 10-06-2009 12:30 AM

got it off a wrecked car auction for ~4k and since i'm still in high school it was hard finding the cash to fix her

pksan123 10-06-2009 12:32 AM

pksan and gr3ddy for helping out with parts

xun4gvn4everx 10-06-2009 12:36 AM

Alexb 10-06-2009 12:43 AM

the drivers side of hood and bumper don't fit well. you should adjust that

Atilla 10-06-2009 12:44 AM

yup currently it's held on with a zip tie on each end, since i don't have the hardware and dealer prices are monstrous

truthfully i have no idea I'm guessing it was a dealer car since it still has the plastic film on the floor, and came with some dealer check lists in it. Yet when i got the papers all it said was that an insurance company sold it to me. It wasn't all that bad new door bumper and quarter ~1k in parts and labor

if anyone has access to carfax and wouldn't mind checking for me just shoot a pm

xun4gvn4everx 10-06-2009 01:14 AM

how many miles?

xun4gvn4everx 10-06-2009 01:20 AM

sweetness!! Have fun with her!

sanyok 10-06-2009 01:25 AM

^ i was expecting a "don't wrap her around a tree" comment, but yeah definitely will.

btw heres a story of what happened today on the way back home

me, mom and brother went to pick her up so i jumped in and started driving home, halfway there was a little traffic jam. Well as I was pulling up to the car in front I overheard a guy in a prelude scream out "look at that 8", once I looked over I noticed him pointing to me

rodjonathan 10-06-2009 08:38 AM

looking good enjoy and welcome

lepichichi 10-06-2009 09:30 AM

sanyok 10-06-2009 05:11 PM

That's my favorite feeling! :yesnod:

sanyok 10-06-2009 08:56 PM

^ i guess it's something i'm going to have to get used to seeing how my dad's car barely attracts attention even from cops

xun4gvn4everx 10-06-2009 08:58 PM

^ haha, def!!! But the second part is the part that blows :icon_no2:

true i'm going to be missing my speeding days :tear:

xun4gvn4everx 10-06-2009 09:14 PM

Get your self a radar detector, it has saved me numerous times. Just don't go cheap, you get what you pay for

sanyok 10-06-2009 09:16 PM

^ nah i'm fine with my personal record staying at 90 mph in an escort, last thing i want is to mess up "rexi"

xun4gvn4everx 10-06-2009 09:17 PM

^ Yea, that would not be fun

sanyok 10-06-2009 09:19 PM

^ still it's funny how people are stereotypical about the appearance of cars eg. it looks fast, it must be super fast

xun4gvn4everx 10-06-2009 09:23 PM

^ Yup, sports cars are easy targets and get targeted. Damn profilin!!!!!!!!!!

shazy 10-06-2009 09:33 PM

bastards.....
We can pwn them in teh twistiez!!!!!!!
lol I hate that line.

xun4gvn4everx 10-06-2009 09:34 PM

thx

i was thinking of maybe cutting out a sheet of plexi glass or maybe aluminum to overlap onto the fender liners on each side and the front bumper mounting points.

i'm not too sure on the back mounts maybe attach to the two bolts that hold the protective screen in front of condenser?

feel free to give me more ideas

sanyok 10-10-2009 11:32 AM

if anyone is interested I ran into another problem....the suspension :wallbash: seems like the fork lift that got the car onto trailer damaged both rear control arms, additionally the front left hub had a shattered bearing, and bent knuckle

Shervinguy 10-13-2009 11:59 PM

wow dude im in highschool and i want an 8
how much did it cost to fix her up?

sanyok 10-14-2009 01:27 PM

^ bout 8k but thats cause i got seriously lucky and waited almost a year to source all the parts at cheap prices

Shervinguy 10-14-2009 10:42 PM

is that 8k including the car?

sanyok 10-14-2009 10:59 PM

yeah i got really lucky and bought the car for 4k and then about 4k for parts, labor, and paint.

also don't forget the insurance, gas etc.

along with no warranty support for it what so ever you would be taking a huge gamble

i guess you could go under your parent's insurance like me but gas would be a different story
