the VERTICAL DOORS, make the rigidity of the car suck... as if the structural integrity of the innovative suicide door with regular door system was not already fairly weak. There is a lot of bodyflex, and the way Mazda designed the doors to be closed and form a structural body brace (between the doors). Bodyflex might cause the doors to end up stressing the frame of the car more, without the proper pillar support between the front and rear car doors... but the vertical doors look tight, but not exactly my thing!

when the doors are closed, I don't think there would be a difference in rigidity between the regular door and the vertical doors..

For RX8's, most of the torsional rigidity is attributed to the outer frame and the redesigned floor and central tubular reinforcement. the doors and b-pillers primarily serve to protect. For the RX-8, the B-piller is built into the rear freestyle doors and latch to the top and bottom rx-8's door spaceframe.

Of course feel free to beat this down, as I am no structural engineer.. Just entertaining some thoughts...

The power plant frame utilized in the MX6, RX7 (FD) and RX8 provides the chasis rigidity. The rest of the car is just dressing to keep us safe and comfortable.

I actually hope ALL RX8s are built 4 door. What we need is a 4th gen RX7 in 2 door/2 seat format. Something the size of the MX3 with a turbo charged renesis, and of course RWD. Damn, I can feel whiplash already.

Man, with a good design and installer, almost anything can be done like that. The question is, can you find one to do a quality job, and do you have enough money to get it done right? I have a friend that owns a car stereo shop and he has done some work along those lines that have blown me (and a lot of others) away. It can be done but it'll cost ya!

nightkids,

Look around Toronto at your area stereo shops. If you have any friends, etc. that have had any work done on their rides, ask them. It's going to be time consuming and tedious. You will have to find people that can and will do the mods, then start getting quotes. Do not go with the first shop or person that say they can do what you want, shop around!!! Just make sure they are reputable and you get to see examples of their work before they get into your car! It's a lot of leg work, but if you get what you want out it, it will be well worth it.

Ditto to both sentiments. On the other hand, the wing looks like a rocket launcher.
