To some extent ... you're right. I would have to agree (along with many other 8 owners) that the 8 is definitely one of the slower cars in its class. Handling; top notch, but still the lack of power can not be ignored. I know folks say get FI, but realistically that's not plausible for most owners. NA mods do SOME justice but the $$$ to gain just doesn't cut it. I mean come on, the Mazdaspeed 3 and 6 pretty much can take an 8 stock for stock. That's just sad IMO. Don't get me wrong, I like my 8, but the lack of power and $$$ and maintenance to cure that issue makes selling it very tempting sometimes.

I have to admit though, at least your Scion serves it's purpose; a commuter brick with APC options. Carbon fiber mirrors from fisher price anyone???

I say gears 3 through 6 correspond directly to how many years I'll have my license suspended for using them the way I want to.

The RX8 does not get horrendous gas mileage, i don't know why everyone complains. You might have one of the unfortunate ones that somehow mysteriously get 11mpg mixed with a feather foot, but most get what, 17-18 city? I'd say that's pretty damn good for a sports car. My 7 on an old engine got roughly 100 miles to the tank. I drove that car with a **** eating grin everyday until i had to store it for the winter, i never once complained about gas because honestly, i didn't care. I drive a sports car so it might as well come with some drawbacks. Live with it.

Let me just say it for the record, The 8 had its perks. It was and still is a beautiful car it looks the part. And driving it was fun....at first. But before the 8 I had a civic, and it was no different. Still bully'd by mustangs, STI's, GTI's everything with some real horses. It pissed me off. The only thing I could beat was a civic or a scion and around here; I cant really say that! So after getting the kit car out of my system, I wanted something more practicle, with GPS/ DVD's and a **** load of part possibilities. The gas prices are through the roof and they're only getting worse. I still love tuning, so I wanted something I could tune, and not sell my soul to pay for. I understand why people like or love the car at one point I did, but I got tired...really tired of it!!!! So I bought a box...lol

 

why do you care about what other people think of your car? did they buy it or you? they should have no impact on your feelings about your car. this goes for what we are doing in this thread, but we are just joking around. if a mustang or any other "fast" car just pulls up and wants to race, i burst out laughing and drive away normally. those people are stupid.

 

I love the car...I'm fine with the box, It just shows the the calibre of catz driving the car, they post all they track times, and talk about race cars all the time as if they drive one as if this car is fast. And we all know its not, so the box is slow but...lol So is the 8. The box is ugly in the eyes of an 8 owner and the 8 is slow in eyes of every tuner. I think this back and forth is fun, I could check this thing everyday for 6months and there would always be someone here defending the 8 as if it was the best thing on the road Its the nature of this place. The best thing about this place is Dshill76 and Nightracer, and the couple of guys here that deal in truth. I'll keep posting as long as the leghumpers live...lol

 

well if you say tuners think the 8 is slow, well that depends on what type of tuners they are

I totally agree with you... I bought the new G35X few months ago as my daily driver and the gas mileage is SO MUCH better than the 8 regardless city of hwy driving... lot more room that I can use and best part is, it's a AWD with more than 300HP and blah blah blah...

I no longer have to go to the gas station every few days, nor try to move up my seat as foward as possible to fit someone at the back and I can just throw stuff in the trunk if I need to...

Everyone has a different taste, and tho the box wouldn't be my first choice when it comes to replacing the RX8, but it's your choice and have fun with it!!

 

Have some class dude. Go out with some dignity at least, your making yourself look like a jackass w/ ur uneducated comparisons. Take pride in ur new car, but dont feel you have to justify buying it by buggin on the 8.
