Engine Replacement Photographs

I took pictures of my RX-8 torn apart for the engine replacement. I used two different cameras is why the images start over in the middle.

I had the flywheel replaced with a lightened flywheel that you can see on the engine waiting to go in. the stock flywheel is the one sitting on the toolbox

Sweet man. I really wish I was able to fully see them remove the old engine and input the new one. Though work pwned me.

Nice detailed pics!

Coolant leak into the #1 rotor chamber would foul the spark plugs on start up. it would run on one rotor for a minute or two then clean up.

Mazda replaced the engine under warranty with one of the engines for the loss of power recall

I saw your car in the shop when I had my recall work done!

It was cool to see the underside of the car with the engine completely removed. The shop manager also showed me the engine they took out with the leak. Ouch.

Where are you getting the work done? I'm looking for a good shop in Seattle since I'm new in town.

Does anyone know the basic dimensions for the engine (height, width, depth)? When I explain it, I usually just hold up my arms and say it's yay-big (without really knowing).
