The wheels and tires were free. They are a lot cheaper to replace than the factory 18in tires. I don't have any video yet, but I will get some.

the 8 is easy enough to drift as it is, dont cheat with smaller wheels!
oh well, make sure you drift where no one can see you and take those ugly things off as soon as you're done.

I think it is a good idea. If I were out drifting my car I would much prefer a less expensive and less sticky set of tires to wear out.

Cheat? The tires are just as wide and just as tall as the factory ones. It's simple economics.

OK, i conceed. yeah, drifters are cheap, they'll probably slap on plastics tires from their bigwheels if they could fit it.... i myself can't say that i haven't been known to slap on lunch trays to my rear wheels in my old fwd car... not to mention the $30each tires/bumcaprims i've sported.... i give you and your stang rims my seal of approval

hmm i've done it in the 8. my buddy said the 8's tires we're sparking. there was no real evidence of tire wear even the dealer marked the thread depth of the front and back practically the same. personally IMO if you're just learning beater tires is the best way to go. when you get better along the line better tires will be needed because you need the tires to do exactly what you want them to do. drifting isn't all about breaking loose, but it's the best part. *btw not a drifter or anything but just giving my opinion on some things i've learned.

Why is it Drift spec? What alignment and suspension mods have you made?

Putting cheap tires and rims don't make it drift spec...

...however, kudos on being smart enough to use them to keep costs down while you practice toasting your tires.

Problem is you may eventually toast your LSD.

Yes, it wasn't meant to be taken seriously. It was actually a poke at all of the people who refer to things as "drift spec". I don't own any Option videos. Nor do I think it's cool. I do like drifting, but not because it's cool. Drifting is about car control. That's why I do it, and I like to watch people who do it well. The tires were free. They are Michelin Pilots and were not used to make it easier. They were used to make it cheaper. And LSDs are wear items, so when it's toasted I'll replace it.

What I dont get is why drifting suddenly a sport? Cause some guy maded it a style contest? Seems to me people have been doing this stuff for fun for a hell of a lot longer than some people think. It just didnt have cartoons made for it.

Sure, I agree. It's not a sport. It's just fun. I had a Mazda GLC pro rally car that was my daily driver for about two years. I was drifting on a daily basis almost. And, that was like seven years ago. I guess drifting just never really had a name before. What I don't get is why everything is a lifestyle now. Peolple just have to much time on their hands, I guess.
