Diesel Truck vs. RX8

So I got bored and decided to search RX8 videos on youtube and came across these two videos. I didn't know some trucks were able to beat an 8

I'm not sure, but is that an RX8club.com decal on his window?
Sorry if this has been posted already

P/U trucks, SUV's, V6 family cars. The RX-8 is not designed to go fast in a straight line so its not news that vehicles with more power can beat the RX-8 in a straight line. The aftermarket for Turbo Diesel trucks is quite strong, its not too hard to get very high HP / Torque out of them. Now street racing after a snow storm is a subject I will leave for the others.

Friend of mine has a Banks setup on his diesel and that thing is freaky fast. Some trucks can whoop up on cars way faster than the 8, is not news. Trucks have aftemarket support as well, especially diesels.

Yeah... its sad that a pickup is faster then a "sports" car.. But, at least the rx-8 is better at handling and braking.

I'd like to see that pickup take a tight corner at 90 mph.

QFT

A truck can pull harder, but when you go around the first bend you will be able to brake later, accelerate out sooner, and take the corner at a higher average speed then a truck.

What's the point of racing anyway, especially out on public streets/roads? This is why I won't even try. I did get a few "challenges" though when I'm at a stoplight with my 8 (got some from an S2000, a Civic Si, a 350Z, and even from a Mustang Cobra - just to name a few). Don't get me wrong here. It was mighty tempting to floor that pedal and rev up the rotaries..... but come on! Really, whats the point?! Who's got the fastest ride? Pfft! I could care less.

You got a cool ride. I got a cool ride. Let's just leave it at that and enjoy our rides. Last thing we need is to cause an accident. If you want to have fun and race your rides, please do it on a race track where you won't involve the general public if you happen to lose control (and on a track where there are turns and twisties along with straightways - we already know our 8's aren't really straightway rockets ).

Anyway, I find it funny though that the guy was picking on stock cars to race with - and most especially I find it scary that he's challenging them on a public road to where it's wet and snow all around. And with other cars and drivers on the raods!

I apologize if my post is too preachy, but I think most of you would understand why.

......well the dumbass driving the 8 was trying to smoke a cig and shift at same time, you can tell by video (sound) he didnt so much as hit his first shift successfully. That truck would have beat his *** anyhow but c'mon, that 8 driver was a weak respresentation. Getting beat by turbo diesel isnt at all surprising, but getting SPANKED by like 5 car lengths halfway through is just sad.

Saddest thing of all is the fact he decided to race a truck in first place.

800HP and a 0-60 of 3.3....yea, I'd say that beats quite a few vehicles out there. Seems like the guy has nothing better to do than cruise the streets with his video camera and race his truck. Ohhhhhhhhhh, Ahhhhhhh.

trucks might be fast but I consider the majority of them to be crappy drivers (at least houston and san antonio area truck drivers...). I swear, every time it rains here I see at least 2 or 3 each day fish tail while turning out of a parking lot or something... I know it's possible for a truck to turn in the rain without that happening cause I've seen it happen... but I just see so many more make stupid mistakes than cars...

my dad used to have a ford ranger, the base base model without even any power steering (that thing was HARD to park). One time we were driving on a dirt road with no weight in the rear and at about 35 the damn thing just started to fishtail on it's own, no turning or anything was needed to get it going... aside from the crappy handling it was a complete piece of **** no matter how you looked at it.

then again, we also had a stepside S-10 with the 4.3 vortec... that thing handled like a dream, I had the *** out going around corners at 60 on dirt roads. It would have smoked my 8 in a straight line.

Oh and I did beat an evo to 60 the other day (I had a rolling start and he was at a standstill) the tall 2nd gear and rev happy wankel was the only thing that let me do it tho. I gave up going any faster before he caught up with me tho because it was public roads and I knew he'd eat me alive after I changed gears. We gave the thumbs up too

angeljoelv can not only beat the f-350 from a stop light, but he can do it while towing a 10,000 lbs boat.
