Destroyed my front lip! *&%(*$&^!!
Ugh...pulling out of the work parking lot and ripped off the right side of my Leg lip. Thankfully only the lip was damaged.

DUDE, after the car sat for years? Sorry man, that sucks.
|
Thanks man. Yeah today was the first day back on the road too.
The curb at work extends to the side of the car and basically goes all the way back. When pulling out I turned too soon. I wanted a new lip but not this soon! |
It's painful to look at. Time for a BMW.
|
You driving a BMW now?
|
OUCH.
that pains me to look at. yea, 9k is a bmw driving commie. |
Should I try to fix it? Buy a new lip? New bumper? Convert to S2? Buy a bimmer?
|
ouch :(

Like this: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...ff=share_other |
unfortunately I don't think there's any fixing that. (for a price that makes it worthwhile)
don't convert to S2, that's ghey. :lol2: and bimmer? come join the club! We haz cookies. |
I'd love an e9 3.0 csl, e24 m6, or a e34 m5 estate :) Still need to fix the 8 though. Maybe r-magic lip?
|
Rmagic lip would be nice. I have been looking for a good deal on a used E39 M5 as a project.
|
simple and clean is what I'd want. good for the dog, kids and whatever crap I need to haul around and still carve up the backroads :)

|
Jk.
I'm used to it. That sucks, mine is in less than great shape. Maybe someone's telling you it's time for a new body kit. :) |

I wish I would have kept my '83 Datsun Maxima wagon, straight 6, RWD.
Saw this one on PMR. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...c5a9ca2ba1.jpg |
I like performance wagons, slow ones don't interest me.
|
Whatever.
Paid $1500 for it in '91, got my first +90 MPH speeding ticket in it cruising down I-49 near Shreveport. IIrc, same engine as the 280Z without a turbo. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...768838d01d.jpg |
not a wagon...https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...0169/overview/

hmm. Alpinas seem to be running cheap...https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...4383/overview/
|
Yeah you can get them stupid cheap. Same for AMG cars.

I have also owned three Maximas (well four including my parents that I drove in high school), a 91SE', 97GLE', and a 2000SE. |
I miss my 240z. Headers, straight exhaust and rejetted carbs.
|
I want one so bad but prices are nuts now.
|
Leaning towards the R-magic front lip but also considering pulling all aero and going with just the OEM lip and lowering the car another 1". I may try to repair the leg lip just to see if I can.
Car needs several updates. Brakes, tires and a few recalls. Still want new set of wheels. |

I have a buddy selling a clean 2008 E92 M3 DCT for cheaper than that and he already had the carbon fiber roof repaired and resprayed and he did the rod bearings as a preventative measure (can be an issue past 100k if maintenance was skimped). He owns a shop that caters to BMW's. But that one is clean, great interior.
If it wasn't gray and a 2008 (pre update) I would own it. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...7b85b4f50d.png https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...bc6a117cab.png |

Yeah and that car needs a tone of work. That is pretty on par with what I found though with older Z's. Most need about $10,000.00 on top of the sale price to make them proper.

Saw one for $50k. |

Still have not decided on a front lip. Like these new wheels by Weds. 18x10 and 21lbs.
WedsSport RN-05M is the latest addition to the WedsSport line up. RN-05M features the new Double AMF manufacturing technology and advance AIR-PLUS technology. The Double AMF technique allows to reduce weight and increase strength on both front and rear rim barrel without having to add material which translate to weight. The AIR-PLUS innovation is directly from our motor sport racing program where the wheel is capable to carry more air volume and also increase spoke rigidity. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...a419711c27.jpg |
sexy wheels.

I like it a lot. |
I'm glad you posted that.
I've always been partial to 5 spoke wheels. I also like manufacturing processes. This is a good detailed explanation, very interesting to me. Advanced Metal Forming (AMF); http://wedssport.jp/amf/index_en.html |
My car needs so much work. Not sure where to start. Regardless it is great to be driving it again. I missed the boooost :) Next week going to make an appt with the dealership to get the recall work done and then I will start on the all maintenance crap. Might order the new lip next week too.
|
did you decide which lip you want to go with?
I still need to get those darn recalls done, just waiting for them to get parts in so I can do them all at once (fuel tank and both airbags) What else is on the to-do list for the car? Mostly maintenance stuff? |

Mostly maintenance stuff? General stuff: brakes, brake lights, new plugs, oil filter, fluids, etc And have 3 CELs, ABS, TS, and something else. Need to pull the codes and start ordering parts. I'm in the middle of remodeling my house (to sell) so garage space is limited. Might be going old school and working in the driveway and the street :) |
