DEEDUBBS new Mazda!

Having owned 2 NB Miata's prior to the 8 the MX5 bug bit me in the ass again. Found a killer deal on a 92 NA Miata.

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...BBX/miata2.jpg

It has 104k miles and a clean title. Needs a little bit of work but I plan on giving it a lot of work! hahaha Best of all I picked it up for $1400. This will not replace my crx as a daily driver but a second weekend car!

rglbegl 12-30-2007 08:09 PM

looks straight.
You gonna put the 1.8 in there?

TurboEight 12-30-2007 08:12 PM

most likely a 20b=)

ive never seen a car with four spare tires! thats wicked... lol - please tell me your gonna paint it the same as the eight... and isnt one weekend car enough as it is?

BigRed 12-30-2007 08:21 PM

shhhh man!!! i can't ruin the surprise.. The build will take aproximately 2 years to complete. I'm choosing the parts for this car very carefully but it's been done to death so it's pretty much a cookie cutter method! As far as weekend cars, my driveway is in a weird position so I have to move about 3 cars just to pull the 8 out of the garage, the miata just sits in the driveway, so it's easy to pull in and out.

The car needs some work though. Going to a convertible top shop tommorow morning to check some new tops out. More than likely going with a a vinyl top with glass unzippered. =)

the bug eye headlights are a classic roadster trait. I love it!

chickenwafer 12-30-2007 09:47 PM

Nioce! I love Miata's, just wish I could fit in them. There was this one time MM made me ride passenger in his Miata....

Jedi54 12-30-2007 09:48 PM

haha, NICE!

faboo 12-30-2007 09:49 PM

sweet pick up...

with 100K on the odometer, it still has another 100 to go....as i am sure u know plenty of people boost their miatas AFTER 100K and it lives long and strong to 200K....

definitely keep us updated on the plans/build

The miata is definitely one of my top favorite cars, aside from the rx7! Good job with the purchase, can't wait to see what happens to this little monster! :icon_tup:

Was the 13b a joke or are you serious about that? I've never seen a Miata with a rotary.

The Drunk IT Guy 12-31-2007 10:11 AM

Every time I see this car I think of two things:

1. When I first saw it as a little kid, and I complimented the fat, blond-headed woman who squenched out of it.

2. Men in pink shirts and tight jeans who are best described as "~fabulous~"...

I'm sure it really is fun to drive! But it's enjoyable in the same way I'd enjoy a strawberry-bannana daiquiri in a curvy glass with an umbrella.

rglbegl 12-31-2007 10:52 AM

I just noticed the turbo kits for these things are super cheap.

http://www.hopupracing.com/grtukittdmam.html

edit - I guess if you only paid $1400 for the car . . $1300 for a turbo is not really that cheap

Razz1 12-31-2007 11:48 AM

Good deal for 1400

speeddemon32 12-31-2007 12:20 PM

hey debub! cool man! would be cool to uto cross with ya. :)

lxlxlxl_saki_lxlxlxl 12-31-2007 12:26 PM

nice car Brian, lots of stuff to do in the car. Great car on tracks. Have fun, meet up sometimes once you mod the car. can't wait to see it =]

Detrich 12-31-2007 12:29 PM

dmc27 12-31-2007 12:34 PM

Nice - $1400 made it a no-brainer, huh?

Those wheels are hawt!

lol. Congrats - have fun playing with it!

Detrich 12-31-2007 12:39 PM

laythor 12-31-2007 12:42 PM

ha ha... yeah true true!

My miata was $1,200 (by the way, nice find Debub, for $1,400, yours is very clean!) but the parts already on the car are WAAAY more. hell the 99 engine I had put in was almost as much as the car (installed it was more!). same with the Mazdaspeed cutch diff. :-/

but thats what I am starting to like about miatas. the price of the car is right, and parts are easy to find.

Maybe one of these days I we will get my wife a daily driver miata???? I get the racer and she gets the driver? :)

wow, that turbo kit is looking mighty tastey...maybe i'll try and install it myself and tear the whole block apart and clean it up..sounds like fun!

likewise bro! congrats on yours as well...i get restless at work just thinking about it, it sits in the driveway for now until I can get my new convertible top with an unzippered glass window...whats the 1.8 litre motor swap typically cost?

I took a ratty soft top like that outa my car on Thursday (the day we got it home). the top is tan and dirty but in goo shape, the rear platic window is destroyed though. I thought that was kinda cool that it had a rear window that unzipped.

Paid a grand for the engine its self and $500 for the guy to install it. (I just didnt feel like messin with a motor swap on a car that I dont know yet.) its not the 94-97 engine, its the 99-00 engne. oh and I paid the $200 for the converssion kit from flyin miata. so roughly $1700 is what It cost me just for the swap. :Eyecrazy:

hmm i'd rather go with that motor swap than a turbo kit. Although i'm seeing the NA engine with the greddy turbo kit dynoing at 200-220 at the wheels...

Razz1 12-31-2007 05:13 PM

I think the expenses with the new baby will catch up to you.

No modding the Miata.

NgoRX8 12-31-2007 05:15 PM

deedubb will be fine.

I just wanted to see what the wind was going to do to your face!
You gotta admit, having your chin higher than the windshield was pretty funny.

HKS did make a kit for the 1.6, but I'm pretty sure FM did a better job.

Personally, I'd leave the car mostly stock with the exception of the turbo and a maxed-out suspension.
