Custom Black RX-8

Just happened across these pictures the other day. They're from a show in Duncan, OK.
Is the owner a member here, or does anyone know more details about this 8?

you just say that because you can't afford them

In realitly it makes getting in and out easier, and you park right next to a wall. I love 'em for the functionalitly, plus the looks.

wtf is up with the seats all the way back, looks like they're trying to hide flaws in the interior or they drive around looking like idiots.

yea, im sure those vert doors are worth more than my rims and tires..

btw,
look at this picture

looks like he has the cheap kit where they dont go straight up. Close the back doors and ask yourself would it really be much easier to get in and out of the car?

I give him a world of credit for doing all that work!

As for the doors...I personally think they are cool. But I would never need to worry about parking in tight spots as I always park my car a million miles away from everybody else if I am able, lol.

That was my question as well. I don't recall seeing that style of bumper before either.

Yep! Different tastes aside, he's put a ton of work/money into it.

trust me, ive got vert doors on my car that go up nice and high so its easy to get in and out of but everyone keeps saying...o, its gonna be easy to get in and out of parking spaces...not completely true. Its always the other f*cker who dings the sh*t out of my car because he doesn't have vertical doors and tries to park in a tiny spot.

While we're on the topic of doors, aren't there companies out there that make (sorry if this is the wrong term) double-helix doors?

I think I recall seeing somewhere a guy who had doors that could be opened normally or vertically. It was like, you'd pop the door and push it out until it hit a kind of "snag", you could push it under the snag and the door would open normally, or you could lift it over the snag and hydraulics would push it up lambo style.

Anyone ever hear of this?

(BTW, even though I'm not into the "bling"/F&F/mod scene, I have to say that that is one beautiful, creative, and well-presented 8!)

My doors go 90 degrees vertical- getting in a out is np. He looks like he either doesn't have them up all the way or has a cheap-o ebay special kit. I agree if you are going to get vertical doors do it right and spring for a name brand kit, no ebay specials.

I only think cars that dont have the metal surrounding the window look good with vertical doors...so the rx8 isnt the best vehicle to do it on IMHO...it can look ok...just not as good..

also...only on a 2 seater...big long doors flying around arent cool

Yes, i am a member of this forum, and only found this thread through someone else.

The door kit is one of the first purchased from VDC, not some ebay POJ. true bolt on. Only had to modify the wiring harness.

as for the seats being all the way back, it was for show. makes the cabin look more open and shows off my interior lights and controls for the Fosgate 360.2 DSP, and the two T3002 and T4004 gain controls.

The body kit is the RAVEN from extreme dimensions, would not recommend this kit after working on the fitment, had to cut, repair, and mold corners to fit. Too much work for me, luckily i had a friend that gave good instruction and help for the body work and paint.

another door comment

I have had this Vertical Door kit on since 2005, and had no problems with the hinges.

it is actually not hard at all to enter or exit the car. My kids love it, and can easily open and shut them. Nothing like dropping them off at the Jr. and Sr. High schools, the doors going up and swoosh, the car gets the attention it deserves.

I agree, the doors arent for everyone, but, i have enjoyed them and their uniqueness. Along with that extra edge you need a the car shows.

My plans in the works now are an inverted hood, with removable monitor, x the PS2 and install a Nintendo Wii.

I have one more amp to install, which will go behind one of the back seats, where i will have an actuated flipdown back seat to display them in a lit amp rack, along with a NOS purge system 3- 2.5lb bottles behind the other seat. Two button remote will make the rear seat backs fold forward and display the amp rack for the subs as well as the NOS system behind the other seat.
