This couldn't be happening... INFO please...

Ok to make a long story short... I have a crack in my bumper right where the bolts are located on both sides of the front bumper...

Can someone tell me how it may have happened. Car wasn't hit & there are no marks to show. Bringing to dealer tomorrow...

The bolts were obviously fastened to tightly from the dealers...any other thoughts.

hmm could be stress cracks from over tightening the bolts.. would have to take it out and see if there are actual bolts connected there..

My other guess could be someone backed into you.. someone did that to me with my old bumper..

my grill was cracked.. and i never even saw any scratches or anything.. the paint seems to be very strong in avoiding scratches.. Idk just my guess...

but take it in.. Id be pissed that is expensive it isnt cheap.. did they do the instal???

Yes they did the install & it is definitely where the bolts are. I can feel it from under that black part going across the bumper...

I will get it filled not painted over...If you saw my car right now you'd think it just drove off the dealers lot!

Great minds think alike... Thanks 05rx8!! So can that just happen over time?? The stress fracture??? It is also dented a bit where the cracks are...

That would bug me too. But even if they dont fix it, it shoudl be no problem for a body shop to fix.

Yeah so as the story goes... I have the Mazda3... Nice little car but boy do I feel different driving in that compared to the RX8... I couldn't go zoomzoom on the Hwy...

Anyways the dealer will repair my bumper for me...they have to see if it came installed like that from the factory or if one of their guys put the black part on the MS bumper...will be back with the results hopefully later...

Does it even matter who installed it? When installing the bumper, you dont even touch those bolts...They are installed when the bumper is made...

I think it's scretching of the bumper going on/off small ramps that did that. I've got the MS bumper and it's cracked at the lower lip because of that, I think. If it is, there should be a small cracks in the bumper near the wheel-well area.

I don't think it can be overtightened right there because the bumper comes assembled with the plastic piece right?

Of course it does because they will be held responsible for it. As it seems it wasn't my fault at all so the dealers will have it repaired & fixed at no extra cost to me...

I don't know if it came installed on the bumper...the tech. asked me that also... However this is one time I was sure happy that it was done at the dealers when I first purchased the car.

I'm not to sure if the dealer installed it or if the bumper came like that from Mazdaspeed. So basically however you look at this it wasn't my fault & it will be fixed free of charge.

The only bolts there are the ones holding the trim piece in place, they are installed when the bumper is made.

Those cracks look more like road debris-inflicted than stress cracks to me

maybe someone tried to steal your trim piece, pulling it out and causing the stress cracks around the bolts.

Those are cracks from the bolts and not rocks... Can you fit your hand under that black piece...well do it & where the 2 front screws are is where my crack are located.

legendkurado : Yes my baby deserves the best...

Bumble_Bee: Yes... only route to go... they have someone coming in this morning to repair the cracks.

NgoRX8: I thought of that but why? Who would need that??? Plus that night I left my car outside & not garaged like I always do...Never again...

Hey you know what, Dealers use this small thing like a quad. They use this to push cars with a small rubberthing in the front of quad. Never know. Just putting this out there.

OMG...another story to tell... So everyone know's I did the oil cap recall, 24k service which includes an oil change...

Soooo, I'm on my way home from a 2 night stay in Niagara falls where I drove all over going shopping.

On my way home the engine light for oil come on. I think nothing of it & think maybe it's just overfilled or something. It goes on & off a couple of times.

So I get home then go shopping again to only notice the light come back on...all highway driving. So I call the dealership they say it could be the sensor. w/e

A few hours later someone calls & tell me to check the oil...I'm like ok but I just got an oil change... SURE ENOUGH... the oil was below the very bottom line!!!

I told the guy if my car blew up with 3 kids in there Mazda would't be too happy & they'd replace my entire car!!!

Lets just hope that when I take it out next that no damage was done... I have to take it in for the CAI filter when it comes in so they will check it then & of course they told me to add a liter of oil...try like 3!!! I need more than a liter & I didn't overfill it either... I'm so pissed these idots could have fucked my car & put us in danger!!!

BumbleBee: Sorry to hear that...I have all these small dents all around from rocks and such & just hate it!!
