Police used to use Ford Sierra cosworths in the mid 80's but found that they crashed them to often (hard to drive + very quick). So stopped.
The evo seems a rather bad choice tho as its 4,500 mile service interval which would be every month or so.

I think the R34 would be a really nasty cop car on and off the highway.
By the way, what is the clear shield on the hood of the FD and the 34 for ??? Bullets protection ?

I would love to see RIC SHAW's lap time in an '8 though :D
There is a thread somewhere about the QLD police using dressed up street cars that look like they belong to "enthusiasts" like us, and enticing others into doing naughty things on the road and then pinging them. The thread was called something about "Entrapment"...
Cheers,
Hymee.
Motorway police in Luxembourg replaced some years ago their Ford Sierra Cosworth for Subaru Impreza Turbo.
The Dutch motorway police used to drive Porsche 911 Targa, at all time with the roof off, wearing a full leather outfit and helmet like cops on bikes. Allegedly, the 911 was the only car that could reverse for miles and miles of traffic jam, on the service lane, without having an engine failure by overheating!

Man! I've been seeing yellow mustangs, with some nice rims, probably 5% tint all over that have nothing even hinting cop car, but it all starts flashing the famous "colors" from the inside of the cockpit, headlights, rear headlights, and if I remember, the headlights were tinted as well(except for the foglights).... reeally tight, in my opinion...but unfortunate for some of us...
skyline, rx7, nsx, evo etc cop cars! thats some scary thought.
In california we regularly see camero ss police cars used by the chp with stealth cherries mounted and painted in only white, so that they can sneak up on ya w/o you ever guessing they're cops. Still, not as cool as the Lamborghini Countach police car that the Beverly Hills PD has - i hear its only for shows and stuff but still, a goddang countach po-po...

Why do cops do these things you ask???
Picture this....
Some guy in a expensive car, sti, jag, corvette, etc gets pinched on a FBI sting. Low & Behold he's a drug dealer with about 5 kilos in his car. Cops Bust him, gets put in jail. Cops Impound car. They get a new paint job, some Police graphics on it, maybe a "D.A.R.E." sign on it, etc.
Now 5 years go by, this drug dealer gets out & sees his old car lookin like this! How Pissed do you think he is?? How Pissed would YOU be?
Just Something to think about.
I've seen it happen!
