Damn...it looks better than the MS CF console bits--especially since they are not real carbon fiber either! It looks real good man. I may get a roll to play around with.

Hmm, not seeing pics for some reason.

Edit: they still arent showing up but I pulled the source code from the post and got them that way.

Edit2: Something must be wrong with photobucket.. or my connection right now.. strange. It's just coming up blank.

I realize that they are in the post. But that doesn't change the fact that I can't see them.

Which I now can see them. Thanks Photobucket, for being a POS and a PITA.

Looks good Aero8. Not to get too OT, but can you tell me what that MS shift **** is made of? Mazda's website says carbon fiber and aluminum, but I know a lot of other MS accessories are "carbon look" and the stock **** is just aluminum colored paint over plastic.

I seem to have especially corrosive skin or something because I've worn all the way through the paint on my stock **** (it's pink underneath!!) and don't really want to drop $150 on the MS **** if it's painted and fake CF.

Thanks for the responses again guys. One day soon I will resize the pics an attach them in case photo bucket goes down again or I remove them. I just have issues getting them within the size limit for attachments.

I don't think it is painted like the stock one is...if it is, well it hasn't started chipping yet. I don't know how to tell if it is real cf or not. looks real, but don't quote me on it. it is inset a little and there is a thick clear coat type thing that lines up with the aluminum.

Phade2, they had a couple different patterns/colors in there. You'd have to go and check your store.

Looks good. My console is kinda scratched from the previous owner, so I'm really considering this. Thanks for the pictures and the DIY.

these cf look stickers don't have as 3D a look as real cf does but it's an easy, cheap DIY. most people won't notice it being a sticker either. hahaah

Update...

So I have started to notice that they don't look nearly as good as they did a month ago.

From in the car it looks fine, but if you are looking at it just peaking your head in the car it seems to be bubbling. I am going to try to press it out, but I am not sure if it will work.

I will let you know when I figure it out. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon, as I have a final tonight.

Aero, I did this months ago and noticed the same thing during installation. Bubbles will form. The way to correct this is to get a fine syringe and poke the bubbles. You then need to squeeze the air out of the bubbles. Take care to just quickly pierce (carefule not to pierce yourself as well) the bubble and not "tear" into the film. Once the air is squeezed out, it looks perfect. My $0.02.

Yeah, I did that during installation also. the whole material is now like that thought...it isn't a couple here and there. Oh well, I will work on it when I get a chance.

Thanks for your input though.

i did mine today...

i saw this thread a while back and was very interested in doing it.. weLL here it is.. i didnt get to do the back cause the roll i bought didnt come with much.. and it wasnt long enough but it was wide enough,, i didnt see the DIY until today.. so i just stuck it on there.. i took the plastic part off where the shift boot is and noticed that it all looked like it was connected with each other so i didnt even bother taking it out.. but now i know.. anyway thanx for the IDEA.. it looks rally good!!

oh btw i saw these 2 wires with clip connector thingy after i took off the center part with the shift boot,, it wasn't plugged in to anything but it looked as if it was pre-made to hook up to something.. have any idea what these wires are for???

There are two premade clips that plug into the seat warmer switches you get with the GT model.

They are not very useful in Az usually. They do feel good if your back hurts.

The switches are just in front of the cupholder bin.

hmm...look very good. Nice little extra to make it look nice, but I do agree not paying an arm and leg for the MS product.

They are there so that the car could have it either way. I believe it was easier to just install them on every one then to pick and choose. I'm pretty sure the wires for the heated mirrors are also in the car.

I'm glad this worked out for you!

The trim looks hawt- post a link where you got it from, I'm seriously considering it!

+1 The tape weighs a lot less than the MS kit. It's amazing how many people on this forum keep harping about weight. It all depends on how much and were the weight is added. This is not even an issue in this case.

so if your car is out in the sun alot, i'd suggest you go with higher quality tape, or real carbon fiber veneer, because mine started bubbling after 3 month and its not pretty
