CarbonFiber Dashkit Installed!

I finally bought a dashkit for my baby from New York City Dashes. It is 46 piece silver on silver CF kit and ran me about $300 total with shipping.

Here are some before and afters of the overhead lights and vents......

before/afters of the steering wheel and doors. Notice that the door pieces extend all the way to the back seat. There was a piece that covered the window/door controls but it didn't wrap all the way around so you could still see the piano black on the side. I decided to just leave it black for now......

before/afters of the center console. Notice that there is a piece that tucks inside the cup holders. Pretty cool

There is also a pic of me holding the extra pieces that fit around the radio. I though it made the button look funny - so I didn't end up using it.

AND FINALLY

before/afters of the glove box. There where three seperate pieces, the long strip across the top, the little curve around the side, and a piece for the handle. I ended up leaving the handle off and just using the strip/curve.

Overall I am super happy with the result. The carbon fiber looks awesome and give the interior another dimension since I don't have the two tone interior.

....can't wait to finally see it in the daylight

Interesting, don't know if I like the silver carbon fiber look of it. Makes it look sorta of to metalic.

But props to doing something different

yes, your the only one that thinks it looks fugly....... black cf would be too boring....especially on a car trying to stand out from the crowd!

erika.......that look 10 times better than what i thought it would! looks like it was very tedious work though! making sure everything was perfectly straight.... looks like you did one hell of a job! *big high five* .......

I'm with you, but everybody has their own opinion. 300 bucks woulda bought me some better speakers, but to each their own.

I'd prefer black carbon-fiber--but it looks good. Too much for my taste but--I like the carbon fiber in the headrest and on the steering wheel especially--do you plan on doing aftermarket leather seats or aftermarket seats? IF you went with a black/black seat scheme or black/silver it would set it off.

I'm afraid I agree with vipers - I don't like the look of it at all. Props for the work though, looks like it was done well, even if I don't like how it looks!

Yeah just stickers but they are not as flimsly as I imagined. You had to heat them up with a heat gun to the point of burning your fingers to get them to mold around the pieces and then hold them while they dried.

The black carbon figer perfectly matched the grey/black dash and it really got lost. The silver matches all the "brushed aluminum" pieces. And I am planning on doing aftermarket seats. Hence the fabric - no need to pay for leather I'm gonna replace it anyway

Eventually but I like to do things in complete steps. It would have killed me to just have one or two new speakers sitting in the garage waiting for their friends to show up!

One year warranty. Whoopdiddedooo! I figure Hey! if it starts peeling off I just get another color! Don't think it will though - that stuff was pretty intense.

Took the pics for myself actually and figured maybe someone else wouldn't mind seeing them side by side instead of dragging their computer out to their garage to have a look see. But thanks for the observation - it was 100% unecessary.

Nice way to set your 8 apart.

Personally I would like a little more subtle.

Can the kit be uninstalled without any damage?

Sorry evil - I got it from New York City Dashes for $307 shipped. This was the biggest kit with 46 pieces. They have smaller kits (like just the console and steering) for much less.
