Canary's New Wreck! =(

got rear ended and hail damage in one day, here's some shots of the damage. Back almost looks untouched, but I can only imagine the nightmare lying underneath the bumper cover, there were 3 other cars involved and I got pushed into them so that is why my front is toast.
Can some of the other members take a look at the top of their doors in the same area I took pictures? (top portion where it meets the back door) I'm curios to know if everyone else has such a gap and if their doors are off etc. such as mine
on to the pics:

last one below. So the way it's working right now is I was just sitting there, completely stopped, got wailed on from some HS kid who slid over 10 feet prior to hitting me, this caused me to hit the car in front REALLY hard, she hit another car who hit a truck...and the kid said the damage to my car was minimal and that nobody else was involved.....shweet oh well, hopefully I get to keep it, the door seams have me wondering about possible frame damage, and i can tell my tranny is not the same(the car had never been wrecked before, so really, I guess the whole thing will never be the same...sux)

Oh that hurts. Looks like only the front bumper took the brunt of it right? I mean the hood and headlights look alright.

You're rear door looks ok to me.

Hope everything turns out ok.

Sorry to hear about the damage. These cars have a very rigid frame and reinforced spine running the length of the car from front to rear.

Judging by the lack of damage at the point of impact. I don't think the hit would be strong enough to warp the body. Especially since the impact was parallel to the spine.

From the side, the tops of the doors kinda look misaligned on my car too. Stand at the back and look along to tops of the doors. On my driver's side they line up almost perfectly. They may be off just a tad but that could just be seals or hinges or the catch off by just a hair.

The only way to really know about the frame (that I know of - I'm no mechanic) is to put it on a frame machine and check the tolerances.

You're probably ok.. but it might not hurt just to have it checked out. Body shop should be able to do that.

yeah I've taken it by one shop so far, I'm up to 2800 just on eyeballing it. kid had insurance, same as mine, my assumption is that he's on his parent policy, has caused damage to 4 other cars, and his parents are trying to weasel out of things so his rates won't hit the universe, that's all fine and good (well not really) but because of thier idiocy, me and the other 3 people have to suffer. That's good to hear from other folks that the door seams aren't a huge deal, just noticed it yesterday and it made me start to wonder. I did get hit pretty straight on (frickin' hard too, surprised the bags didn't go) so perhaps the way this car is designed may aid in me not having to total it out after all. I wouldn't mind an 06 or even trying another car, but it just wouldn't be the same as this..especially the color. Way too early to tell any of that though, so Tuesday I'm going to drop it off and go from there. Worst part is I may have to take a loan out to pay the deductible...ugh

I don't understand??

The kid smacks you and you're worried about a deductible? In my state, if you rear-end someone you're on the hook, period, no questions asked.

The kid hit you from behind, you weren't moving (no contributary negligence) therefore, his insurance pays everything including a loaner car for you while you see about getting yours fixed. If the kids parents get nasty about it, hire a lawyer and charge the lawyers fee to them as well when you win..............in fact, thats what your insurance company is for, to act as your serrugate and your best interest (doens't matter if the same insurance company is involved in damages and claims, they can't screw you).......don't let them....

Yeah I'm a little confused about this... how the hell did the kid say no one else was involved if there was other drivers involved in the accident?? Especially a truck, I've never seen a truck run from the scene of an accident. Sounds to me like you weren't paying attention and smacked into another car. Of course, I could be wrong :]

um yeah, I was defintely paying attention which is why I was STOPPED when the whole thing happened. The car slid into me from behind pushing the sh** out of me into another 3 cars, I would say it was the guy who hit the sh** out of me that was not paying attention, not me. I don't know why my car doesn't look like the other rear end shot, maybe because I'm lowered and the front end of the oncoming car was dipped down? I also have a full blown install in my trunk with false floor etc so maybe that helped brace things? I don't know, it doesn't matter, i do know this was NOT my fault.
People will lie to get out of taking responsibility, (among other things of course)especailly when there is money involved. This kid who hit me couldn't have been more than 16-17 yrs old, driving an older Sentra (which had pretty extensive front end damage as well), who slid over 10 feet into me whose tires made so much noise the Escalade owner (last guy who got hit) got out of his truck and was like "wtf, I heard it all the way up there?!!" Cops came out, handed us "blue sheets" to fill out our own police reports, had everyone fill out information 4 times and hand it to each other person. Then, held up traffic so all 4 of us could leave, while he held the kid back (and probably gave him a ticket). Should his parents even have to claim damage on one car, much less 4, on his insurance, they'll have one helluva premium when all is said and done.
So this is where the shitty part comes in because he is lying so a) his parents won't bust his *** for wrecking his car etc. b) his parents are probably lying as well so their premiums won't shoot up. I have a claim number and everything, but the car isn't at a shop yet. This whole thing is making me sick, and tomorrow I may take an additional day off of work to go talk to my agent in person, perhaps call the Texas Insurance Board about the whole f**king nightmare, and lastly to take out a loan so I have some extra money for a deductible, extra work when it is in the shop, (maybe a Mspeed kit or shaved doors or both if I even get to keep it) and for a lawyer etc. if necessary. I'm told if there is frame damage it's totaled, I can definitely tell something is seriously wrong, despite it being drivable, with either my tranny, motor mounts, frame, something. So there you have it, and I won't even go into the hail damage, last year I had over 9 grand worth, looks to be an annual thing for me now lol..sorta :p

First off it is the KIDS FAULT PERIOD. He is liable for any and all damage incurred due to his negligence. To all the vehicles and occupants in the vehicles involved .
And any pain and suffering that may occur in the next year of your life.
My suggestion is to get a Lawyer and a Chiropractor. It will cost you nothing.
But it will this make your ordeal a lot more easy on you. Time and trouble.
Lawyers have a tendancy to be heard in such matters.

that's what I was thinking, but the insurance company seems like they just want to get everything fixed and worry about the details later, they pretty much filed a claim without my approval (I'll admit, I was in no shape whatsoever on Thursday to make any kind of decision or put up much of a fight over anything) and the more and more I dwell on the whole thing, the more it seems like something is not right. Yup, sounds like I do indeed need a lawyer as well, despite the fact I was hoping to avoid all that. man this whole thing sucks

The only thing that has me stumped is how your rear is almost perfect compared to how fucked up the front is. Considering you were nailed in the rear bumper, which unintentially caused you to hit someone in front of you (while being at a complete stop) who than hit someone else.. is remarkable in respect to physics. What a chain reaction eh? Oh wait, that's chemistry :]

quite the chain reaction considering there were 4 cars involved total, I can remember being stopped long enough to know something bad was about to happen, then hearing the screeching tires coming and bracing for it, then being rocked really hard while soda was flying etc etc. I'm looking forward to finally dropping the car off somewhere and seeing the real damage that lurks underneath all the minor cosmetic stuff, minor on the back anyway.

edit: here's a picture of the kind of car that hit me:

Canary, sorry you got whacked.

I don't think you have frame damage. The front end would have to be destroyed to even get to the frame. Likely the rear and front impact were not simultaneous so you didn't get "pinched". Your door / roof reveals look OK. It doesn't even look like it bent the hood or fenders. The headlight housings look intact. They will probably have to blend the hood and fenders when they paint the bumper; depending on the condition of the paint on the metal surfaces. It looks like your hood is a wee bit off on the reveals, but this could be that mounting brackets bent on it or surrounding surfaces. The rear doesn't look too deeply damaged either. New foam, bumper cover and some blending there too.

I forgot to add...

The cop should have asked the people in front of you how many hits they felt. Generally:
1 hit = not your fault. Guy behind you hit you; you hit the car in front - once.
2 hits = partially your fault. You first hit the car in front, then were subsequently hit from behind, and again hit the car in front.

From the impact marks, and I believe your telling the truth I'd say it was 1 hit.
