Nice setup,

I remember the good old days when Soundstream use to be in its prime. Before the buy out by power acoustik. I had 2 old rubicon 1002 a da vinci and a lil wonder. All solid amps. the soundstream exacts use to be one of my all time favorite subs. now, they are like the rest of the junk out there... sad to see a good company go to the dogs.

But good looking setup, how are those components? are they any good on axis? generally with the metal tweeters i find them to be way to harsh on axis. they are detailed but need to have some type of off axis setup to have less listening fatigue.

Yeah I remember Soundstream from back in the late 80's/early 90's, they were known to be the hot setup for clarity along with ADS and a few other brands, then Phoenix Gold/Punch etc. was supposed to be the shizzle for the bottom end.
They're actually making strides to get back to the glory days and their equipment is pretty impressive (I'd say that even if it wasn't in my car) and they really have come a long way, I'd put them against all the big names (Jl, Alpine, etc.) any day now, probably wouldn't have said that about 3-4 years ago. Those tweeters can be harsh if I crank up the treble on the deck all the way up, but the way they are facing/mounted and the way I have everything tuned they are just about right, if not perfect. The shop who did my car dominated the competitions last year with 2 Soundstream vehicles, even had one judge saying that "this is the best car I've ever heard" in reference to one of them, they went all the way to nationals and both got 2nd using all Soundstream equipment. I'm not sure how far mine will go, we still have a little work to do to get it ready, but it's definitely one of the cleanest sounding cars I've ever heard/owned.

Yes and yes, unless you have tons of money and a spare car (I have neither by the way, just longtime friends who run a shop and some minor industry connections) I'd just wait for the Metra kit to come out

edit: was just thinking about hood struts the other day, I'm kinda annoyed at how the stock one ruins the view with the hood up and kinda' takes away from the symmetrical theme we're shooting for

i love your system, i have an auto too and had thought about doing the speakers in the floor but with it being a daily driver i feared that i may kick them, but that is for sure the best system i have seen on an 8.

It's not that bad really, those speakers do actually have an enclosure around them and it's designed with the proper airspace, even for those monster tweeters You can't really tell from the pics, but it's actually sunk in behind the factory piece there where the floor meets etc. Sure it definitely sticks out a bit, you do have to be careful getting in and out of the car etc. but it's not so bad or as bad as it might seem. One thing that amazes me is the imaging this setup has given me, even with all the speakers being located pretty low in the car, we somehow managed to nail it where the words/music/details/etc. are placed perfectly during playback, I've yet to enter a sound comp with it, but hopefully in October I can run it through and see what kind of scores it gets
