I notice people using Red on their calipers. I am worried that it will clash with the Velocity Red. It's hard to tell in the pictures. Anyone have a close up with the calipers and the side of the car? What paint company has the closest matching red?

I don't think you need to worry about the color salituro. Since it's tucked under the wheel the lighting is always different and you just don't see them side by side to notice any difference. I've used the local Advance Auto kit and a true red Testors model paint. Two different times for touch ups and no difference noticable. The surface is rough too so it helps hide any color changes.

i had a nice shot somewhere but it will take forever to find. i used VHT (?) caliper paint and it came out nice....it is starting to flake now after 1.5 years i guess i could do it again but powder coating is the way to go.

I just purchased a Stoptech brake kit. I opted to go with the Black calipers. I think if I was painting the stock calipers I would also have gone with black.

I used a custom blend of OEM VR paint and Rustoleum rust prevention. Also, I only painted the inner piece of the caliper while the outer part is black. First I painted it all black for a base coat. My rotor hats, fins, and brake shields are painted black as well.

First Post

I've been checking out this site for months but never posted. My 2005 VR 8 6 speed is completely stock except for the tint. I have the "mod. bug" but afraid that once I start I won't stop. I'm thinking about starting with simple exterior enhancements as therapy. Any suggetions?

A couple pics on a cloudy day....

Start with clear corners, then eyelids etc. they make a big diff.

Welcome aboard. Depending on your level of mechanical knowledge, lowering springs was a first for me. Better handling and tightens up the the wheel gap.
