Velocity Red, Matte White OEM Wheels?...

So does anyone on the forum have the OEM 18's painted white?
I've been thinking about getting my OEM wheels powder coated matte white, I think it would look great...Does anyone have pics that would really help me make my decision. What do you guys think?

Nope, not really. I'm in no hurry to do anything, but I'm sure I'll get the itch sooner or later. I'm just enjoying getting to know it right now.

I honestly hope to never sell it, and then get an RX7 whenever it comes out. I really regret selling my FD. I'd love to have it in the garage with the new R3.

It rides nice with the MOMO's. I like the feel better with the 19" wheels and lower profile tires.

Are you serious? Man you must have Cadillac struts in your car. There's no way I could ride on those in my area. Way to many pot hole and frost heaves. I'd have to visit a chiropractor every week. Looks ok though.

i actually like white rims on a red car. i think it looks hot.

i've considered powdercoating the stock rims white. but then... if i go through all that trouble, im just going to get another set of rims. i actually like the stock rims. its just the offset that bothers me.

I too like the stock wheels. Mazda really hit it off with them, hence why soooo many other Mazda owners buy them.

For me I needed aftermarket wheels. A bit wider and offset, plus style and color to be different and for the shows I attend. My WORK wheels are the first thing most people notice and comment on.

I failed again at grabbing a good camera. My g/f is the closest to me currently with a 12MP camera, but she went to work and i forgot to ask her for it before she went.

So i had to work with my buddies iPhone. It's "meh."

Anywayz, finally had some good weather here in NYC so i waited for the best day. Saturday.

I overslept and woke up at 12. Got started at 1:30. Had about 6 hours to work with it and grab some pics. My friend and I both did our cars (his 06 Z4). He half assed his... but i sure didnt.

Stripped the old wax with dawn dish detergent. One section at a time as to not leave those nasty streaks. Used a Squeegee to get majority of the water off. Then used a microfiber towel for the rest. kept it wet with the hose while squeegee'ing because i was working in direct sunlight. Damn water spots.

After that i grabbed my trustee Mothers Claybar. First time using it. Let me tell you... simply amazing finish. Dull spots became ultra shiny, and shiny parts became...shiny... It is a time sinking PITA though, but its so worth it. After i was done with the buffing, i headed into the interior. Used this interior cleaner **** my buddy had and sprayed it onto a microfiber towel. I proceeded to wipe down everything but the seats. It was clean to begin with but there was still lots of dust. This took care of it and gave it a nice shine.

Pulled out the mats and vacuumed them. Washed the rubber ones i picked up for the winter. vacuumed all the carpets and seats...etc. Then i took simply a hot damp towel and wiped down the leather seats. I grabbed some glass cleaner and went to town on the glass. Grabbed another damp towel and wiped down all the red trim within the door sills and stuff. Oh, and being this car is 6 years old... i found out that the previous owner didnt take the plastic off the "Rx-8" aluminum plate where your feet usually hit by the door. It amazed me lol.

Then I hit the rims with tire foam to clean em up. Scrubbed by hand. Then i hit the tired with the foam. I wipe them down after a minute or so. It pulls the dirt off, but keeps the shine off the sidewalls. Not much of a fan of shiny tires.

With all that done, i then proceeded to use my Tech Wax 2.0 with "Water Beading Technology" lol. I have used this twice on this car after a wash. It looked great. But using it after a claybar.... my god... twice the shine with only one coat. I wanted 2 coats but i ran out of daylight...lol. Oh well, it will have to wait. After i waxed the car (including head/taillights) i used the microfiber towel that i used to rub off the wax, for the windows as well. Gives it a nice shine, and helps with the wipers.

When all said and done i took pix with whatever light i had left, on an iPhone. It doesnt do it justice at all, but it will have to do for now.
