thanks everyone..

I will do a drop but i dont know how much.. i still want to drive it and not worry at every single bump..

The side skirts might come during winter. I might have a winter car this year so it should help.

My next mod is to finish all the lights. i need to get HID kit and LED for the tail lights and 3rd brake light and im done. ( i will have pics of the LEDs up tomarrow)

I am assuming by 'Clear Corners' you mean clear indicator lenses at the front? (I'm a n00b!)..

The Indicator lenses at the front are smoked grey..possibly clear to start with, then smoked. The exhaust is aftermarket, I havent really looked underneath yet to see if theres any identifying markings...it sounds good, not over the top loud, but has a nice resonance.

It has some blue bulbs in the door lights, as well as blue instrument lights (which come on when getting into the car, then they all fade at the same time).

The wheels are 18" ITC Sebring (Japanese apparently).

The rest appears (appears on the surface) to be stock...

Thats all I know at this stage....until the weekend when I manage to get into everything and pick through things...I did notice a bracing strut in the engine bay, which I am not sure is standard or not...

As I mentioned, it was a present from my wife, and to be honest, she couldnt have found a better car!!( without my input). All I said in passing was that I love the look of the RX 8.... :-)

I will post some more pics tonight.

Cheers

Dean

The wheels on that white 8 look like dead ringers....

Jurassic, it's hard to tell from your pic, but they look almost certainly like the same ones.

Maybe they did some sort of deal with the manufacturer and just used different center caps depending on the country?

As for mods, I have to be careful, as 'Carlotta' (my wife named it) is my daily driver...if I go overboard with mods, the insurance will jump...I'm on a pretty good deal at the moment.

I did install a hard wired FM Modulator last night so I can have AUX input, which seems to have worked fine. I also installed a band expander for the radio....Japanese imports seem to have a limited FM Bandwidth, 76.5 to 88.5, and most New Zealand FM stations (well, the good ones) are 90.0 and above.
I was a bit scared pulling the radio console out, seemed to require a fair amount of force to 'pull' it away from the dash...but got there in the end.
I will probably replace the factory BOSE rear 6 x 9's to 3 ways, just to improve the sound without going all out and spending mega bucks...

I've been tossing up on the strakes and accents, probably prefer to keep the car simple, and let the lines speak for themselves.

The rear disc centres could do with a coat of black..

Do any of you guys have a Drivers/Owners Manual in English? Especially for the Emergency Tyre Kit...? I have the workshop manual in English...

And finally, tell me about people keeping the litre of oil in the boot...I understand they eat some oil occasionally? What about start up/shut downs too....ideal times to leave it running before setting off, and letting it cool down?

Cheers

As much detail as I have at this moment on Carlotta...

2003 RX 8 Type S, 6 Speed Manual, 18" ITC Sebring Wheels, Yokohamas on the Back, Not sure on the Front...Factory BOSE 6 CD Changer (still don't know wtf Auto Pilot is on the stereo display...)
Fog Lights, Chrome Branded Scuff Plates, Aluminum Pedals, Branded Aluminum Factory Mats, Big Fat Exhaust x 2...

Things I would like....

An illuminated gear shift (one of the optional extras Mazda seem to be offering...how hard can it be to knock something up that works?)...

As soon as the weekend rolls around, I'm going to go over it with a fine tooth comb and see what I can dig up...

Cheers

Some answers to your questions...

1. I have 2 bottles of oil strapped in with the tire inflation kit....

2. Yes the do eat some extra oil... I add a quart about half way inbetween my oil change

3. For start up and shut downs... The manual states and I follow, if you pull your car out of the garage to wash it... let the car warm up for about 5 minutes...

Never shut your car off when the engine is cold... Potential to flood engine...

Only if you have a turbo do you need to let it cool down...

hope that helps...

Cool, thanks for that...

I picked up a set of Infinity Kappas 6 x 9s today to drop into the rear deck just to give the sound that something extra without going mental...

Do you know of any links to a owners manual in PDF format? If not, I'll try and source an owners manual from a dealer or locally....by the time I get one from the states, it will end up costing about $120...

But I am so loving the car! When I park in the car park at work, I spend 10 minutes just standing looking at it before I head in to the office....

I'm paranoid about dings and dents...someone opened their door and put a dent in the drivers door about the size of a dime, and the bastards didnt leave a note....the panel shop estimated $500, because of the position of the dent, cant get to the back of it.....aghh

Ladies and Gentlemen!

I'm the proud owner of a 2004 Titanium Gray 6MT 8...

GT, every option but SatNav...

Black/Beige'ish interior... God I love it!

Anyways... its absolutely MINT... 12k miles.. until the day after I owned it, it had never seen rain...

(I bought it from a super wealthy friend, who had bought it for a sunday car... along with a few generations of 911, corvettes, ect...

Traded his latest z06 and this to be put on the waiting list for the ZR1...

Anyways, I'll post some pics shortly!
