You might be disappointed because .....wait for it...... I bought a part from Summit racing. I hate to leave Home Depot racing because the parts are just soooo much cheaper:).

Eric, stop baiting him. Calling him by a banned member's name is uncalled for.

Thanks, its actually polycarbonate, which starts to melt around 200 iirc.. so unless theres an engine fire its not going to deform.

V2 with 0 brackets is underway.

this tray costed about $60 in materials, but invaluable learning experience to make it better the second time around.

Probably because I was red faced over it. It was indeed dumb to post ,:spank:, but hey it is a learning curve. I really don't care if the pic is up here. I will post another of the engine bay as soon as I can get the sticky duct tape off:Eyecrazy:. So to answer your question that's why:lol2:

bladeiai 07-24-2013 11:38 AM

It's not really that clean, but someone asked me to take a pic of it for something else and I thought what the hell... I should just post it.

Do you log intake temps, Im not a fan of the look but the idea is sound if its substantial. I have my LIM coated black and my temps are only 7 degrees above ambient. (which to me sounds pretty good)

Cardboard.

lol jk, modeled it with cardboard, then used https://www.onlinemetals.com/merchan...id=7125&step=4

I'll upload a better pic when i get home

Carbon8 07-24-2013 12:10 PM

Im torn, IDK if I want to make a tray, or use an opened out OE box to retain the factory look.

paimon.soror 07-24-2013 12:15 PM

i hear ya. I needed something to cover the entire front behind the radiator since my airbox and battery box are gone.

Carbon8 07-24-2013 12:18 PM

Looks clean, my whole thing is I hate the white portion of the ECU and Fuse box.

Also anyone nowadays still make CF covers. I see them in pics but can't ever find any for sale.

Yeah, this just makes me realize how badly I need to get my ass on this.

Do you have a thread on your battery relocation?

^Me too...
That looks great, Paimon!

Unfortunately I dont :(. I have a brief section on it here: Normalexception.net - 2009 - 2011 RX8 Battery Relocation

But that needs to be updated as I now have just the hot wire running to the engine bay through a hole in the passenger side firewall, and the ground is just going to a bolt that mounts the rear seat (short wire).

Carbon8 07-24-2013 02:47 PM

No ventilation, or battery box. Tisk Tisk! I see you added some extra weight with the deadening material too.

Still looks good

paimon.soror 07-24-2013 03:00 PM

Lol, i dont have that battery anymore anyway ;) My new setup is a bit different

Mercatis 07-24-2013 03:14 PM

Things to do on my list, clean engine bay like Carbon 8, then dress it up

Carbon8 07-24-2013 03:16 PM

Yeah mines still a mess IMO

Man i cant wait to post here. I have some crazy stuff going on in my bay.

I love the Stiffy/mazdaspeed bar combo Piamon. Makes me want to source a mazdaspeed bar.

+1.
I've sourced a MS bar. Now I'm looking at that stiffy with deep affection... [NO HOMO] :boink:

I haven't been able to source a low cost air separation tank for the coolant....thats the only reason i have that still there :(.

The radium tank is super sexy, just $$$

Honestly I didn't log enough before I put it in to make any kind of real comparative results.

I have had them on for a month or maybe a couple months. They don't do anything for everyday driving really, the only place I saw a difference was after doing a run at autocross the intake temps wouldn't spike as much while waiting for my next run.

It is 100% worth it just for the look on people's face at tech inspection though... when they lift that hood and you can see that 24k gold reflecting off of their confused face...

I never heard of radium tank. Well you should hit up limerock park on august 10th there doing a drift event. I'm always there spectating and I'd love to see your rx8 in person.

The radium tank is really nice, I kind of wanted to do a dual tank for washer fluid and expansion tank like this:

Washer Fluid Reservoir - Killer B Motorsport - Aftermarket Subaru Performance

Carbon8 07-25-2013 01:10 AM

When mines done ill post up a pic, OE coolant is fine with me. But I added a tripple canister for other things.

hoss -05 07-25-2013 08:22 AM

Yep i would love to have one of these in my engine bay.

Universal Coolant Expansion Tank

paimon.soror 07-25-2013 09:37 AM

yep, you almost dont mind paying the 250 because it seriously is a beautiful piece of art. Mind you, you will also have to pick up some of the hose ends if you want to use with OEM radiator.

Carbon8 07-25-2013 09:39 AM

Looks like you will need adapters too, the hose ends look small in comparison to ours.

Yes, the AEM is run through a gutted intake box I want to do on under tray but I still need to do a battery relocation and swap out the coolant reservoir before I can do that so I am saving it for winter and went for a sleeper look.

The corner piece is offered by Scott, at Rx8performance. Its a trio canister setup 1L per container. I use it for washer fluid, catch can, SOHN reservoir. I have never seen another 8 with it in person, and only one on this forum. It was an I have to have it when I came across it.

lilring 08-12-2013 05:40 PM

Hey dude, I like the paint on the trio. I might do something similar to that with my dual set up

9krpmrx8 08-12-2013 05:48 PM

We have a local guy with that canister setup in black and the quality is marginal at best. Plus the guy who makes it is a crook so that makes it that much less appealing.

Carbon8 08-12-2013 06:13 PM

I respectfully disagree Scott, I have had nothing but great results with his products. I understand his past discrepancies turn a lot of people off. But I have seen nothing but great effort in his customer service and quality and wish people would take it in stride and judge what he is doing now.

Regardless to each their own, this is mine and I'm satisfied with it.

I am sure the people he stills owe money, parts, damages, etc. too feel differently about it than you do. Especially since people are buying his products and making money for him now. But if you have never been ripped off by him then of course you are cool with him.
