Buying Wheels, Opinions?

So I'm in the market for some new wheels on the 8, and I'm just photoshopping a few different ones to see what I like best.

I want to a local shop and they recommended the Motegi MR122 whites for me. Below is (sort of) what they would look like on my car. What are your thoughts of the white on LY paint?

The other option(s) are a flat black, possibly 5 spoke as well. Other option could be the same but with a machined lip (Though I see a lot of them in my area).

Any opinions, suggestions, etc. is greatly appreciated. I am only uploading a picture or two of the white Mr122's for now, until I get the other ones photoshopped in. The specs for the MR122's are: 18x8, 35+ offset (Though I believe there is an option for a +48 offset as well).

Thanks, I'm thinking of going that way as well... the Mr122's (in white at least) just don't seem to fit

LOL, not sure. I don't actually mind them as much as I thought I would, but still don't think they would suit my car right.

I knew they looked awfully similar to the Volk's, never thought they would be a rep though

Don't let a shop suggest wheels for you. Search online ... alot. There are tons of wheel threads on this forum. Personally I think the white would be cool but with something a little less generic looking and not such weak sizes and offsets. And don't buy wheels at a tire shop... they overcharge like crazy! There are so many sites out there that offer wheel/tire packages at good prices with free mounting balancing shipping lug nuts centric rings. Just food for thought. You gotta take your time and get something that makes you happy.

Well I prefer to stick with 18's, but possibly 18x9 instead of 18x8. Currently running 225/45s but eventually will get 245/40s. As for offset, what is bestfor both 18x8 and 18x9?

spend the money you have on buying those ugly as DONK wheels on coilovers, or an aggressive spring and shock combo and then spacers..

10000x better than cheap wheels on stock height.

and then take $1500 and buy yourself a used set of authentic nice wheels.

I like white wheels on yellow... but those wheels are not an improvement over OEM. Have you considered having your stock wheels refinished?

Thanks all for the opinions. The problem with a coilover setup is that I live in Alberta, but my home is Saskatchewan and especially around the area I live out there l, and here, the roads are not forviging. Lots of potholes, uneven stretches, gravel sections, etc. So it makes me a bit nervous to have the car lower than it is because I already have issues with scraping :/

Saying that, I've always wanted to drop the car a bit and if it means changing driving habits that's just the way it is. I'm no expert at all when it comes to doing such a thing, anyone make a recommendation as to what to get / what I'll need and what I can expect to spend? (ill be hitting up that section of the forum today, but feedback here would be great)

Thanks again all!

Would any of you recommend something like these then:

What does it take to install something like this? And what would something as above be in comparison to a shock/spring and spacer setup? Greatly appreciate this guys.

The Tein's will be fine. Not too hard to install just need a 17mm, 14mm and a breaker bar.

You'll like the Tein's. Yes you could get some Koni Yellows or Bilstein's for cheaper but it will be harder for you to install.

taking springs off stock shock assembly and reinstalling on koni's/bilsteins
it's a little more involved than it sounds and a longer install than coilovers

OK, great. Thanks for the info! I think I'm definitely going to be getting a coilover setup.

The link that I had posted - Those are adjustable, meaning that I can raise/lower the car through it's adjustments?

I am considering buying those ones, only difficulty I am having is the new member/no trader score thing. I would hate to throw $850 out the door for nothing (In the event that would happen)
