A closeup

On this picture, you can see the mount of the lid... frankly, I was disappointed. The mount is made of plastic, so compared to stock (which is all metal), this one is a bit flimsy. It's a shame that they skimped on making the mount metal - probably this is cheaper.
This is not to say that the lid is not worth it (for me it is), but I'd be much happier with a sturdy bracket. Also, this (although it is a genuine Mazda part) still doesn't look as good as the lid CanZoomer is importing from Japan (which was listed in the accessory catalog). Oh well... it doesn't cost as much either :p

Hmm, now with that picture it looks completely different than Mikeb's Japanese one. You sure that is a true Mazda product? Not a Rosenthal Mazda accessory? Something they got from another distributor?

the b pillers look nice.. but im not sure if I like the chrome gas cap on the titanium... i also like the whole subtle smooth look where the car looks like 1 solid piece. maybe a side view wud be better. Its ur car though.. and if u like it thats what counts dude.

IMO its seems the gas cap just doesnt go with the rx8's styling, but it doesnt look very bad either. The pillar looks good though

looks good

I've been thinking about getting the chrome gas cap on my black rx-8. One quick question please,,,, do you have to get that installed at the dealership, or can you do it yourself? How much was it? Thanx

Not sure which company you ordered from but the one from mikeb is all metal. He ordered from canzoomer.

It is definitely a Mazda product. Trussville Mazda carries the exact same door (not just Rosenthal) and the door has the Mazda logo plus a part number stamped on the backside. It also carries a Mazda warranty.

You install it yourself. Takes basic tools and about 10 minutes of your time. The price was $84.

I got this from Rosenthal Mazda. I know that the one imported by CanZoomer is all metal - that's the JDM part and originally, that's the one listed in the accessory catalog. However, Mazda North America seems to have made the decision to import a different (cheaper) lid to the US.
The Japanese lid mikeb has certainly looks better, no question. It also costs almost three times as much... that was too rich for my blood.
Of course not everybody will like the way such a lid looks - but that's OK. I do
